Undecided whether to get a 4 or 5?? Wanted a V as they have 4 channel ABS - does anyone know if the 98 IV also has this??
However, have also been informed that the V is more prone to Big End Failure?? is this reliable info?
Be grateful for any imput!!

Pretty sure the STI IV does have the 4 channel ABS as well (read it on an IWOC site). One big minus point though - it's much more prone to piston slap which is worryingly common on 98 cars. I'd go for the V, after all it's newer and has been improved in some areas. Power delivery is stronger throughout the rev range for example. Make sure you use Super unleaded though (and maybe octane booster as well) as it's more fussy about it's diet.

Hi
I have owned an Sti V5 for the last 1.5 years and I would reommend it without a single negative point.
I can't see any reason to buy an STi6 over an Sti V5 but the Sti V5 definately has a number of revisions compared to the Sti V4.
I investigated for at least a year and am glad I bought an Sti V5 (for 16K) instead of spending 12K for a beat up old style Sti2 or
22K on a P1 with hardly anything extra.
Hope this helps.
