gauge advice needed
hello again,
i posted earlier that i got a new scooby today, well not new.
but a turbo 2000, it came with the boost gauges.
but they werent connected.
there are three wires coming out of the back, black, red and orange.
the orange ones didnt seem as if they were in use.
all 3 reds, and all 3 blacks are tied in together.
so i connected them to a 12 volt supply, but no lights came on.
can any one help me out???
what have i done worng? do they need to be connected to the car its self?
ive been told the wires they were connected to are somewhere behind the dash. ( need to find them on my day off ) and connect the air hoses.
i just wanted to see if they would light up, just like a stereo does when connected to 12 volts.
stereos and amps etc i can deal with no probs, but never dealt with gauges!!!!!!!

nah no plugs, just three wires coming out of the back of the gauge.
red, black and orange. orange one is taped up as if it was never used.
i never saw the gauges working as they were for sale seperately.

Red - ignition feed
Black - earth
Orange - dash lighting
If they are anything like mine!
My orange and red are together as they are smoked gauges so I can see 'em all the time.

bristol 98, and mattyb, thanks for that will give it a go when i get home. didnt want to connect the orange without being sure, and end up blowing the lights.
and bristol, mine are smoked aswell.

you dont have to connect the orange, the only benefit is if you want to dim them the same as the dash lights, which you cant do. Leave it with the tape on, red to 12V, black to earth.

hmm, if they didnt light up off an external source then you might have duffers there. What did you pay for them? You really cant go wrong with the prosports for around £30 each, best gauges for the £. I had 6 in my last car

hamster,
they look really nice mate,
sonic im gonna try and post some pics, but because they have smoked glass you might not be able to see the dials.
i tried once again with the charger, but no lights are coming on!
i even put the orange with the red as some one said to do, but nothing.
