Hi Guys, I posted this in For Sale but as time is very tight i thought it OK to post here for a few days.
There are hundreds of people on here i have taken for a run on track in this car, so maybe one of you had your mind blown enough to want to own it?
I have just been informed that my Westfield Zei220 is being written off as a categoryC write off.
This means it is suitable for repair and return to the road so I am being allowed to buy the car back as salvage. I am losing a few thousand on its real value so this may be an option for me to try and recoup some funds.
The reason for this mail is simple, to see if there is any SERIOUS interest in buying this car from me so that it could be rebuilt. I don’t have the time or the heart to spend on it but it would be fantastic if someone out there would take it on.
The car needs a new chassis and body, although the damage to the body may be reparable as it’s just the front left corner and some nose cone damage, it depends how mint you want the car really.
The other damage is the front left corner suspension and steering rack. Obviously it would require you taking a look and judging for yourself but the rest of the car is perfect. I have a full listing of parts required if you are interested.
I am considering breaking the car for parts also but would love for this to be rebuilt.
I really need to make a decision Monday afternoon as to whether I go to the hassle and risk of buying the car back as I am having to pay more than I would have liked really.
Please email me on john.felstead@btinternet.com if you are serious, as I don’t want to mess about and don’t want to make a big mistake financially. If you are interested in the parts, mail me too as that would give me something to work with also.
This is the perfect project for someone who has the time to put into rebuilding this car, it could be the performance bargain of the year, I just cant get enthused about doing the work myself.
Thanks
John

Sad to hear that John. I just hope someone can put in the time and effort to rebuild it.
Don't suppose you have asked Westfield themselves if they are interested ? Just a thought.
Cheers

Sorry to hear that John, I saw it at the pod before I discovered this board and me and my mates were seriously impressed.
If you cant sell the whole thing I will be more than happy to have the tuning bits off you for more than reasonable prices. Particually the ECU, injectors, turbo and 3-bar.
Let us know if you want to split the car.

wow, that was a long time ago, i only had 220BHP and my head gasket was blown that day. LOL
There is a guy interested in the car if i drop the spec down to 270BHP, he seems more interested in the car in it's original form so maybe we can do something?
I'll drop you a mail.
cheers

Gutted for you John... I think I know how much you cared for that car.
Legendary status will only go up ...
So... apart from this "not having time" crap: what's your next project ?

Hi Theo,
I havent any plans right now, I have my hands full with the Escort Cossie rally car (we are currently 4th overall in the National championship), 6 litre Esprit GT car (building the first ever 6 litre rover V8 based engine, major prototype work) plus i'll be helping out Jon with his 700BHP/tonne Atom soon. Hopefully i'll be able to give Ian and craig the odd bit of help if they need a bit of experienced westie type advice so it's not BS Mate, honest.
Not really sure what i'll do long term. I know i wont have time to rebuild this car myself for 12 months and i cant really stand the thought of looking at it every morning on my way to work as i get the scoob out of the garage.
I know the most financially sensible thing for me is to build it myself, but i just cant bring myself to do it.
Good to see you post here though mate.

yep, i am glad the car has found a new home, it's too good not too.
Chris Smith, MD of Westfield rang me yesterday, we had a good chat about the car. Aparantly he has been watching me getting up to my antics and enjoying the fact the car was a match or faster than the other kit out there. I got the impresion he had a soft spot for the car too. It was his own personal westie for a couple of years. It's probably the best allround performer they ever built. Unless you have been in it or seen it first hand you really dont understand how rapid it was. It always amuses me when the other seven drivers wouldnt believe it was as fast until they were being severly spanked. Good fun, but i really couldnt care less what others had or did, i just enjoyed driving a proper car.
Chris told me he took it to germany one week to do a test with a german performance magazine and they found it to be the highest performance car that didnt have ABS they have ever tested, that was before i got my hands on it too.
I want to be there when the new owner drives it for the first time, i think he may lose a bit of weight rather quickly.
Think i'll make up a piccie post with some highlights to the stuff i have been up to. It took me a while to get it reliable, but geeze was it fast!

the Ring R1 video is great at showing where a really quick car and a really quick bike can outperform each other.
At the start, through the first couple of miles the car is faster for the majority of the time, it makes a good getaway through all the medium and low speed corners. The bike takes a long full throttle straight to catch that ground back up. Again the car leaves the bike in the tight right at aremburg but by the bottom of the foxhole the bike is back there again.
The lap goes on like that until the last 3rd when the wire falls off the boost control solonoid and it drops to low boost. Then its just a steady cruise to the finish. That was a fun lap in high temperature, there was a much faster lap in that car, easily sub 8 minutes.
