Saw 340 bhp STI for sale is this realistic?

Saw a 1998 'S' reg STI for sale with 'just' an induction kit for sale last weekend. Owner claimed a rolling road 340 bhp and 0-60 in 4.5. Wanted £15,500.
Could this be for real? Why would anyone spend 000's on mods if you could achieve this for such a price. I doubt these figures - just wondered what the board thought.
Steve.

LOL!!! well if you look at the cars that have 340bhp (realistically that is) then your looking at more than an air filter to start with, it may actually be pushing its std 280ps with that but i wouldnt go for these "over the odds performance cars" IMHO

340bhp... fantasy land, pure fantasy......
I got 330bhp at Powerstation on Friday, and they said it was one of the Best Scoobs they've had on their rollers (yes a real 330bhp at PS!)
The only way to tell is to drive the thing. I drove a supposed 346bhp car a few weeks back(a few people here will recognise this car from the power claim figure). All I can say is words like ollocks and get a life.... nearer to 200bhp if they were lucky.
£15500 for an S Reg - High given that you could get a 1999 S Reg at the time for £19k on the Road as the Yen rate was about 240 to the £ - so this is a rip off
I would not want to pay more than about £12k for that (if its a mint low miler,i.e less than 30k miles), given I reckon mine is worth about £16k with about a further £16k of mods..
