Default old or new does it really matter

after owning a few subarus in the past new age and classics, thing have come to a point where i cant afford to spend huge amount on a car and i cant stay away from subarus i always get drawn back

at the minute im looking at a wrx classic with low miles 50k very clean its a 96 reg

so my question is does it really matter about age of a car with fairly low miles, compared to a newer car with higher milage.

its always been a bit of a issue with me and get scared of one thing going wrong after another.

what are other scoobynet users veiws on this ??

i have had a o4 sti a 98 turbo2000 and a wrx07 in that order and without a doubt the classic was the cheaper to run but i much rather the wrx07.... imo

nowt wrong with older cars Adam, there are still a few tidy examples knocking about.....go for it.

Heres some pics of my WRX I sold a few months back, it was like being back in the 90's and drove faultless ! Very very nice example!

I'm a classic fan, i just love the seat of the pants feel, had a new age and they are just a bit too sanitised for me, as regards age i don't worry too much about that, i just judge each car on it's own merits, as long as there is no rust you should be fine the only thing that goes wrong with cars that don't do many miles is usually the exhaust and bushes, as long as it has spent it's life undercover it should be fine good low mile classics are getting hard to find, and they are cheaper to run and more fun.

And it may have the closed deck block, i would just give it a really good going over, looking for all the usual stuff, but that sounds sweet, and if you don't go for it send me the link.

It all comes down to how it's been driven / looked after. Me and the missus have a Fabia VRS each. Mine is an 04 plate with 156k miles which has spent much of it's life on the motorway and drives better than the wives which is a 56 plate and has 24k miles. Newer ain't necessarily better

+1

Classics just seem to have that extra "feel" about them which always makes them that bit more exciting for me.

After owning a classic for 5 years then buying a hawk, its as if your not driving an impreza anymore. The classic had a more mechanical raw feeling about it,where as the hawk is so smooth & easy to drive. That said though i know which i prefer & sadly the classic is what it is an old car.(waits for all the classic owners abuse)

got a 93 wrx and am tempted by a blob sti. ill prob keep the 93 wrx off the road cos i can always go back to it if i dont get on the sti and its worth far more to me than the 1500 quid id have to let it go for.

WRXs have TD05s aswell though. If it has a TD04, he's downgraded it.
