Default rwd ??

hi everyone ,
i have noticed quite alot of people have been converting their scoobys to rwd ? just wondering how difficult and whats involved to achieve this really ? the thought of 300+ bhp going through the rear wheels maybe a tempting option if i ever get bored of all wheel drive ? cheers

You need to weld the centre diff and remove the front drive shafts.

there is a company in silverstone that do a proper conversion, it's not cheap but sounds like it's worth it.
Found it from this eBay ad

you will need to separate the cv joint and still use the joint or your hub will fall apart

Hadn't seen that, they must have added the conversion now. Sounds good but the power claims are based on the components, not what the box can handle. Would be interested to see how they drive after being converted to rwd

never experienced rwd ! one day im gonna want to ? but not gonna want to get rid of scoob ! spent too much money and put to much work into it ! so keeping it but going rwd makes alot of sense plus the bonus of being a bit different

Do you have DCCD?

If so, it is worth keeping it AWD. mine is AWD with DCCD, and 320bhp.

I find if I want to push hard, I can get the rear to step out quite easily, but at the same time, the AWD is a huge advantage and has saved me a few times when I am pressing on, and didn't exactly want it to go sideways...

plus, AWD is so much better for launches.

Remember to think to yourself, if you convert to RWD, who would buy your car when you go to sell? one of the best selling points of the scoob is that it is rapid, and sticks so well. there are plenty of other motors out there that are already rear wheel drive, and you would be best off buying instead. 200sx S13 and S14 would be a much better option

Agreed. if you want rwd, an s13 or s14 is the way to go. they are designed to be rwd unlike the impreza.

dccd switched to rear wheels will it behave like a rwd ? does all the power go to the back or is it something like 80%r / 20%f ?
