After coming home his evening to nice police officer down my road to great me, I have been told to get my 'loud' exhaust changed immediately!
Turns out a neighbour complained to them and they are just don't there job!!
I'd rather the neighbour just came to me or left a note on the car instead Of reporting to me but never mind!!
So nice easy question do I get a rear silencer and will that effect the cars performance?? Or do I get a full silent system?? Problems I have are I have a max of 100 to spend, and it looks like the exhaust on at the moment also doesnt have a cat either.
Car in question is a classic wagon 98 plate.

 

just get a exhaust bung in the tail pipe, sorted

ps: a cat will not quieten down a exhaust, thats not what its designed for at all

in my experience back box will make the most differece in noise.
put a standard one on. you could easily find a used one on flee bay for that.

But seriously as far as I'm aware all they can say is get your car re-mot tested.

At this point you may fail without you cat through emissions, however next year no cats will be failers unless they're imports. However from my experiance its pretty unlikely the mot man will/even can fail you on noise

how loud is this car of yours? is its blitz nur spec loud or just maxnex loud?
if blitz nur spec loud then i yes they have gone about it the wrong way but try to see it from their side. no offence.
i have full decat and ninja back box.. its loud, id say just below the limit of "**** ya neigbours off". nur spec loud is too loud imo.

im on the neighbours side if im honest, they dont wana hear you pulling up late at night

i remember when a neighbour of mine had a VFR400 bike, he used to get it out the garage and idle for around 10 mins whilst he sorted his self out that it woke me up everymorning

was great for me as it was a FOC alarm clock but on my days off it pissed me off a little so i can imagine someone who dont care for cars would be alot worse

Is it really that loud? Mine I think is loud but I just drive in on tick over and I'm sure I won't get any complaints.

 

I have no idea what make it is to be honest, I don't think it's that loud, but I do live down a cul-de-sac so I can understand it echo's around the houses, plus there is a couple that have a new born so I can understand them complaining, as I said before I'd have preferred it if they just told me than went to the police.

can totally see where the neighbour is comin from as a lad used to have a vtr near me and used to wake me up at like 1/2 in mornin it was that loud, but then totally agree that they should have come to you and not gone to the police, takes the **** that

hopefully going to look at an sti next week, that has a prodrive back box, is that loud or not 2 bad, as i cant be doing with really loud exhausts on my cars

 

I have an bug sti with prodrive exhaust and its quiet as a mouse almost too quiet tbh but when you put yr foot down it gets lot louder :-)
