Both my cousin and my uncle had a hawk Sti and GB270 saloon (until both suffered headgasket issues twice under warranty!)
The Sti was totally on another level compared to the GB270.........
It handled, performed, stopped and looked much better

Nice garage. So, you're the perfect man to ask this particular question - (I was going to ask does the wagon justify itself as you have the ultimate to comaper it to, but of course you have both), so, presumably the GB270 wagon holds its own?
it will be faster In the real world than a standard STI (not a STI ppp), it’s a another wrx ppp vs STI thread which normally goes downhill fast.....
You really need to drive them both and have a clear understanding of what you really want. If you really want a Wagon and you’re happy to add a few mods then it could be made into a match for any STI.

STi offers much more for not much more money in the current scoob market. That is what I found having recently bought an STi recently and looked at a few good GB270s. It just felt like I was buying the right car after I drove both. However the GB270 is a very quick car. Evo gave it 4.5 stars IIRC....
Doesn't have to be a hawk. I had forgotten the GB270 comes at quite a premium price for its extras
Have look around for a bug sti wagon if you can find one as they are the last sti wagons but rare to find in uk, or as above just mod a wrx, maybe a newage hatch would offer what you want as well,
I'd buy a nice standard wrx wagon, fit anti roll bar drop links, alk and geo, set of brembo's decat exhaust and remap, and its happy days for £2k.
No need to change the gear box and the suzy is just fine, if you want to lower it and firm it up slightly then a set of springs is a cheap way of doing it.
That set up makes for a cracking real world daily driver.

I'm going to start to listen to more of your posts

Massive cut above the 2.0 Focus I'm in now, and about the same money

The price of WRX wagons it's not such a mad idea
