Any way of telling if a car has been mapped?
The reason for the above question is that today I had a complete decat system fitted on my car ready for when simon remaps it on Thursday but when they removed the turbo heat shield they found 2 loose bolts that connect the down pipe to the turbo, anyway I just can't believe how quick this car is with the new system on, it's fricking mental.

As Hamster says about 0.8 bar (can't remember exactly) .....Hawk WRX has a very conservative map and runs quite a low boost as it is a "world" car and has to cope with all extremes of cold / hot / altitude without det.....

IIRC the TD04 on the WRX starts to heat up the air approaching 1.4 bar......not good if you have bought the car to run in Dubai.
Found this .......
MY92 - MY96 WRX, Turbo: TD05, Boost: 11psi
(Please note that the WRX has been out in Japan since 1992, hence the MY92)
MY97 - MY98 WRX, Turbo: TDO4-13G, Boost: 13.5psi
MY99 - MY00 WRX, Turbo: TD04L, Boost: 14.5psi
MY01 - MY02 WRX, Turbo: TD04L-13G, Boost: 13.5psi
MY02 STi, Turbo: VF35, Boost: 16.4psi
MY03 - MY05 WRX, Turbo: TD04L, Boost: 13.5psi
MY03 - MY05 STi, Turbo: VF35, Boost: 16.4spi
MY03 - MY06 Forester XT, Turbo: TD04L, Boost: 11.6psi
MY06 - MY07 WRX, Turbo: TD04L, Boost: 13.5psi
MY06 - MY07 STi, Turbo: VF43, Boost: 14.93psi
0.92 bar then....

I remember Enginemapper on here mentioning OEM boost targets in a post last year.....It surprised me how low they actually are compared to what we would *like* to run LOL
Maybe if Graham reads this he can give us all a list

Seriously Graham, I read an article in True Grip about 8-9 years ago on the mysteries of the Subaru ECU by John Banks. Very informative and was one of the things that got me interested in messing about with my car.
I'm sure an updated article would me almost universally welcome
Cheers

Got me all curious now, just had a (cheap) boost gauge fitted to my JDM MY00 STi wagon and would like to know what the stock boost should be for it?
I mentioned it was a cheap gauge as it flew round to and stayed at 20psi in fifth on the motorway yesterday and I wouldn't have thought a standard STi from then would boost that much??
