How hard are they to steal?
At 01:30 this morning my neighbour was knocking on my door to tell me that my car had had it's windows "put through".
Turns out it was the drivers side front window - no glass remaining in the door what so ever, looked like person had been trying to make it safe to climb through.
I found my locking wheel nut on the driver seat, it had been stashed in the centre armrest cubby hole underneath some bits of crap - air fresheners etc.
The lid to the armrest was still up and all that was left was a de-misting pad. **** knows why person wanted the other crap??
So how hard are these cars to steal - car in question being a 2003 STi? Easy or hard? The doors "dead lock" - is that why person couldn't get them open?

I thought that person must have been after the wheels but maybe after he worked out he couldn't steal it.
Must have been scared off by something to go to all that trouble only to leave the locking nut on the front seat - must have been in his hand but he would have been leaning right into the car and maybe needed both hands free to extract himself.
Obviously couldn't reach the glove box because that including the CD walled inside and other stuff was untouched.
I just hope the person doesn't come back for seconds...

The whole thing could be a fake though - I had an extremely disgruntled and now ex-employee a few months back. Total meat head, threatened my car directly and lives 3 mins down the road and round the corner.
He held me responsible for his disgraceful exit from my Team and the company and is exactly the sort of sad sod to continue his beef. Still phones me up at work sometimes to give me grief...

Haha, unfortunately not - at least their was no blood anywhere. Took his sweet time though, there was not one single bit of glass left in the door. It was all over the road, the bonnet, roof and boot... Boot? **** knows how it got there.
I called the Police and they asked about blood. When the officer said give details either:
Now over the phone, later when I had tidied up and sorted the car out etc
or
tomorrow sometime... I decided not to bother at all. They didn't have to tell me it would be a total wast of my and their time for me to get what they meant.
I just sourced a window from Matt and Poleposition, due Tuesday then I'm off to Surrey Subaru Specialists to have it fitted, £59 all in!! AutoGlass couldn't do anything until Monday and quoted £295!!
Obviously I'm not claiming on insurance, not worth it in the long run and definitely not now it's £59

I don't want to risk it, or even a sniff of a vandalism claim on my history especially if I can fix it for such a small cost. Had it been the front or rear screens I may have had to think twice!

I wouldnt claim either. Once theres a marker on the house that theres been a history of vandalism or theft you'll end up paying in the long run.
Our nextdoor neighbour had their car nicked off the drive a few years ago and since then our 3 cars insurance have gone up 50%
