For the second time in little more than a couple of weeks I have had an insurance broker advise me that an insurance company would accept the modifications on my car only to turn around and tell me that they would not accept them.

Today, when I asked to speak to the person who sold me the policy and who I had given complete details to, I was told that he had been sacked for his poor standard of work!

He had also omitted to tell me that they would not accept insurance on a Scooby without a tracker fitted...this by the way was a well known insurance company!

All I have had done is a quickshift, SS backbox, ITG panel filter and Cibies...does anyone know of any insurance companies who are 'sympathetic' to the odd modification and who might be able to help me?

Just to put you in the picture, I have an MY98 Terzo, and am 31 years old with full no claims. My previous premium with no mods was under £800. The cheapest quote I have now got is around £1,200! 50% increase for 'minor' modifications?!?

Please help cos I'm sick of sitting on the phone for half a day getting insurance quotes.

Try NFU (Karen on 01604 883726)

Rural 36, cleanish licence & Full NCB etc, with Brembo/AP & Leda & Strut Brace & Cibies & Harness Belt... - £447 (Grp 17)

If I were to put on B/B & Quickshift (& prob filter) = up 1 group & difference on current premium of £10-£15 (Grp 18)

If I wanted PPP = + £40-£50 over current & would rise to Grp 19b.

Works for UK models (not greys) & over 30s. Also car is garaged & I employ a few aproved security mods which knock the premium by 10% - but hey when you're talking low premiums anyway, then hardly an issue

By the by, I have all this in writting as Karen's collegue wrote me a long letter detailing mods & potential mods from a conversation we had... F'in very lucky that the missus never opened the letter He has been warned
