Just had fitted today @ RC Developments. An APEXi SAFC and APEXi AVR plus HKS plugs .Along with the exhaust and filter that the dealer fitted from new the car is now pulling between 325 - 330 bhp (RC'S figures) at a stable 1.3 bar boost. The car feels so much more like I thought it would and is now equal on performance if not slightly quicker than my previous car (EVO 6).The other good thing is that the boost is adjustable so that it can be dropped right down to 0.60bar for motorway cruising.Plus I don't need HID lights now ,as my big daft grin lights the road up.
Cost = £750.00 + AFC (which I already had)+ £510.00 for JPI exhaust and ITG Air filter.
Cheers
Gary
I've added a piccie of the gauges in situ ,above the mirror.

You can always fit the PPP and keep the APEXi AVR for greater control and power.I was also toying with the idea of Nitrous, an extra 50 bhp burst for £600.00. Am I just being greedy.

HYP1C,good to hear of someone actually tuning their STi7 rather than just tarting it up.Glad to see you got such good results.By the way how are you going to deal with the warranty issue?

Have RC Developments got a rolling road now ? I've got some friends up that way who are after a rolling road.

Cheers

Question

HYP1C

What is "An APEXi SAFC and APEXi AVR". My STI7 is due in the next two weeks. I am having fitted (before it leaves the showroom) the JPI and panel filter.

Sorry to be so dim and hope you don't mind providing an explanation in laymans terms as to what these mods are and what in theory they do

Also, what impact did that have on your insurance?

One last thing. Are you going to the NW Meet on the 30 May at the Ladybarn Milnrow? I would certainly love to see you pride and joy

I believe they are boost and fuel controllers.

personally I think they are silly way to tune the car, and you would be far better off with a GEMS ecu which gives you much better control of fuel and boost by not playing with the sensor out puts and fooling the ecu, plus you also get control over the ignition timing which is worth shed loads of power.

plus by the time you add up the separate costs of those things, you are not far off anyway.

oh and Hypic,

on the motorway you only use boost when you put your foot down to over take and even then you only use as much boost as you ask for governed by how hard you press the go pedal.

at constant cruise you will be opertaing under vacuum, which is no boost anyway, and then if you want 0.6 bar, you can have it by only asking for it.

Adam there is no GEMS application yet for the STi7(nor MoTEC etc).(I do agree though that mappable ECU is better.)

err, gems I coudl understand, but motec I dont think so!

the motec is a generic ecu, you can with a loom adapter get it to control anything.

I dont knwo how that would control things such asd avriable valve timing, but I am sure it is a feature they would instill into it.

gems is a plug and play so is model specific, not so the motec.

I chose to do it the way I did because I already had the AFC from my previous car ,so it was easier to just add on from there with AVR.I'm well happy with the performance gain anyway. RC haven't got a rolling road ,but obviously they have worked on hundreds of Scoobies and Evo's to no the differences between power upgrades.
Insurance wise , it's through the company so it doesn't matter.
Warranty wise ,it can all be taken off easy enough.
As for the Motec ,Gems route, well yes I could have done it that way but I chose to use what I had ,and no it works. The NF did make a difference b4 the APEXi stuff and I'll carry on using it (Thanx Chris).
The reason I posted the thread was to be of use to others ,not to be dogged off. It's all only money you guys , so chill out a bit.
I hope to make the meet at The Ladybarn,as I've not been there for years.
A big hello to Wartster, you'll have to let on next time.
Cheers
Gary
PS there is a site for the APEXi stuff. I'm sure someone will be kind enough to put it up.

I thought I read in the link manual that it could cope with VVT? Or was that on the MRT site???
