Default Got to bin dump valve

Good morning all.
Still being very new to this and reading and searching for dump valve, BOV and so much more, my head is in a right spin.
MY03STI ppp blob eye came with baylies dump valve when I purchased her a month ago now. From what I have searched, read about and heard this is potentially a bad move by previous owner. I don't have the original item but am wanting to purchase what is best for my motor.
Pleas help and advise where to go and what to purchase.
Thank you all.

Go back to a standard oem one or a decent aftermarket recirc like a forge!

Theres a few breakers in the retailers section that should be able to sort you out with a standard oem one and youll probably be needing the hoses either side of it if the standard ones got taken off when the trev valve went on.

I bought my 03 sti and it came with a bailey. As soon as i fitted a few mods the bailey started playing up.

I put a thread on here asking about going back to a standard one, a user(brownpantsracing) came forward and offered me his old standard recirc for £10.

I NOTICED A MASSIVE DIFFERNCE STRAIGHT AWAY.

Put a wanted add up mate

Not overly familiar with what year has what valve ..... sure someone will be here soon enough tho put you right! But that one is the one which flanges on to the intercooler itself! the other type has a hose feed in and out and looks like this.

That is a forge recirc valve yes, but it will gain nothing over the standard recirc valve. Many tuners recommend sticking with a standard one until your well over 400 bhp.

Personally i wouldnt spend £140 on that.

Do you want to keep the whooossshhh noise when changing gear????

Whats the problem with dumpvalves? is it just that the car needs too be mapped to run them?

Do do like the whoooosssshh as you put it, but not at the expense of doing turbo damage, if it will indeed damage the turbo.

Mine was run for years with one on and my old scoob had one, this one just started palying up so i went back to standard but i did notice a differnce with the standard one back on.

there's been a few threads though that suggest bailey dump valves and such are best left alone

I dont believe a recirc or a B.O.V will cause damage to your turbo, thats part of there job. The only way that can cause damage to your turbo is if you have NO valve at all and just block everythig off. You would end up with a chattering noise eveytime you change gear or let of the power.
This can cause damage to your turbo, you have a vf35 turbo so its strong enough to deal with that anyway but i still wouldnt do it, driveability is not very good IMO

With maf ..... recirc!

Mafless ...... doesnt matter!

Think thats the jist in a nutshell!

At present, just because its all i currently have and the plumbing was a nightmare, im running a recirc valve atmospherically ..... it sounds very.... uurrrrr ..... unique! haha

Mass Air Flow sensor ..... Measures the air that goes into the engine to determine how much fuel to bung in (along with other factors)..... atmospheric dump valves let some of that air out of what should be a sealed system and mess up the fuelling! Recirc valves dump pressure form the engine side of the turbo back to between the maf and the turbo so pressure is released but the air is still essentially engine side of the MAF sensor.

More advanced aftermarket ECU's work off MAP sensors (manifold air pressure) so the Maf can be removed and then it makes no difference where the boost pressure is released to.

See that bung thats jubileed clipped into a hose underneath? the recirc dump valve should be outputting to that! So the standard one which was linked to earlyer will bolt straight to the intercooler in place of the baileys atmospheric one and the output tube on the new valve will jubilee into the pipe in place of this bung.

Its a 2 minute job and once youve got the standard dump valve it will all make sense!

Also, dont forget, when youve bought the standard one youll be able to palm this off on a chav on ebay for more than the standard one will cost .... bonus!

no probs the one i linked to on ebay has the separate metal L shaped connecting bit attached on this one un like the one i first bought then had to go get another doh.

I dumped my bailey strait away too after buying my car best thing i ever did but miss the whoosh but the bailey was more of a pathetic sneeze anyway IMOI.
and with three hours polishing you can get it like this :-) i think looks better now than it came out the factory :-)
