Paperwork for a JDM
Hi,
I'm looking at buying a JDM 03 STI. According to the advert the car was brought here as new and registered with just a few Km on the clock.
The guy says that he has a full folder of receipts for the servicing (not stamps which makes me a little unsure). I want to know what paperwork it should have to prove that it was imported when he said and that the mileometer was changed so that I can be sure of the distance it has covered.
What bits of paperwork do I need to see to make me happy and if anyone knows what they look like I'd be grateful as I don't read Japanese.
Thanks

Auction Certificate from Japan ie if new there & imported here with just a few km's on it. That tells of the condition etc so you can be sure it wasn't crash damaged over there
My Spec C came over with 14k km's which was altered to c8k miles from memory - all part of the SVA test I think.
TX.
PS
If new as registered it shouldn't have any km's on the clock as would have been switched to miles as soon as it landed.

You won't always have an auction certificate..... if the car wasn't bought from an auction.
My JDM Hawkeye from API wasn't bought through an auction.
I have the shipment note as to when the car was imported and copies of all the VOSA and first registration documents though.
Mileage was easy to verify on mine (8k miles) by the condition throughout. The underside looked brand new and the interior still smelt new. As you would expect on an 8k miler.
With regards to EcuTEK and the JDM.....
If the car is MY03 > MY05 it will either work with EcuTEK or EcuTEK MegaROM.
MegaROM does everything said above, but NOT ALS. However, this can be enabled with the EcuTEK GRP N map but you lose Knock Control, so not really an option for road cars.

My auction certificate showed the mileage in km's (14k) which matched with the miles on the trip (divide km's by 1.6?) when it was delivered to me.

This must be rare Shaun as iirc every Jap car comes through the auctions (although yours clearly didn't)? How did yours get out of the country if not via an action?

Mine had Japanese service book stamped but I dont understand it then a load of service receipts since being in the country, also cert for cat 1 security as insurance may require this I had no auction sheet but probably lost by previous owner, but not to bothered about that being missing

Thanks for the info guys. So far I think I'm looking for:
shipping, VOSA and first registration documents
SVA report (is this the same as above VOSA?)
certificate of conformity
detailed report of all receipts for servicing and modifications including dates and labour
The only other Impreza i have bought is the one I currently own. A standard UK model with full service history. Any thing else I need to be wary of?
All help appreciated
