Default Genuinely after some more horses.

Hello all. MY03STI ppp has full 3" exhaust, green panel filter and EcuTec remap and is hitting just over 323 HP. It already has whiteline arb and drop links and new bushes all round with strut brace, full wheel alignment all done.
Got a quote off Harvey for headers up pipe, and 3 port boost solenoid. Then remap with Bob Rawle.
So is a turbo upgrade the best way to go for more HP?
Can't really afford turbo and all Harvey stuff at the same time so do I get Harvey stuff now and turbo early next year.
Really after 400+ ish horses but only want to spend my money once.
Thanks in advance.

If you can't afford it all now your better to start buying and building it up to have done all at once otherwise you'll end up mapping it twice and may find plans change along the way which means things keep getting swapped on the car.

323 is a little low.. any reason given that holding it back?

Standard turbo will do around 340 something.. depending on supporting mods.. but going to need a replacement to get 400+

Cant find a graph for an 03.. have an 05 graph which is not massively different

Hi jolly. Wow. I have no idea why it is low then. I have had car about 3 weeks and it does have a prosport 3 gauge set and boost gauge max reading is 1.4 to 1.5 bar. Is this normal/average? Do you think it could do with another remap because to be honest I am not sure weather it was remaped before or after the mods.
And if it does would it not be worth getting all my Harvey bits and then a remap and then start saving for turbo, injectors and everything I need to see the other side of 400.

And MY03STI has no cats at all to. So maybe HP is low.
That 344 graph you put up, what mods on that car please? Thanks

I would hope to see at least 335bhp from an 03sti and a good one 340something but at the end of the day we are talking about a very small amount of power and chasing figures.

That 05 car decat and headers..

You could get it mapped again and gain a little perhaps (where was the 323 recorded) but if you intend going for a bigger turbo and other mods then better to save your money and do it all in one go

L&G: Harvey's up-pipe is matched to the turbo you use, so buying both at the same time makes more sense. Buying the up-pipe now ties you to a particular turbo later. What if one isn't available? Or a better one comes up at less money?

Sit on what you have at present, save for the other mods all at once and put the price of the second mapping session towards a turbo.

Just my two-penn'orth

One of our customers, living in deepest Norfolk, drove down to us earlier this year with his '04 STi.
While he spent a pleasant overnight stay in a local hotel with a very attractive lady he swore was his wife, we converted his car.
Front mount, SC46 turbo, headers, injectors and re map. 440 bhp.
He enjoyed the drive home, and he's been enjoying it ever since.

Looking at where you are, which isn't at all bad, I'd say you need a bigger jump forward to really get the benefit. Save up and go for it!

In a similar situation my self, same car 53 sti ppp uk, with Harveys headers and u/p and decat d/p, K&N panel filter and pfr7 plugs this was mapped by Bob R and reached 343/335 and is lovely. Just brought a TD05 18g again from Harvey and a perrin 3-port boost solenoid and will get this mapped next week hoping for around 360-370.
To get the next stage 400+ which i would of liked would off meant buying a whole load of bits which i couldnt afford so i met in the middle !!!

I hope you find what your after my friend but for 400+ safely takes a fair bit of wonga,

Is 1.4 bar normal for MY03STI? to much? To little? My HP does seem a bit low after a night of reading on scooby.net and I am really wondering why now. Car has a great service history, might just go for a remap as the last one was mid 2009.
Any thoughts?

But don't forget that cars can be different.

When I had my classic first mapped by Bob Rawle, he commented that it was "a good 'un" and mapped nicely, allowing him to dial in more advance than was normal.

Very true. As it were mapped a while ago it would be sensible to get it checked to see if there is anything to be gained unless you intend changing turbo or other its now as then no point.

Well I think I am going to go for Harvey headers and matched up pipe. I would love to feel this "better spool" every one is taking about. She is a daily driver.
And you know how it is. I have owned the car 3 weeks ish now and want to put my own touch on her here and there. Carbon front splitter ordered, and a couple of other bits. Fancy some Perrin stiffies but just not sure how to really fit, as per my other thread.
Thanks for you reply guys.

how did you get on with remap? and did you have to change your up pipe for your 18g turbo? asking because i am geting a few bits together for MY03STI and just need a up pipe now but for the time being i am staying standard turbo but do want to change it to a 18g later.
