About £500 or so for a good long weekend - Get the Dover Dunkirk Ferry and if you book at the right time it could be as little as £34 return. Pretty straightforward drive out there my record is leaving Littlehampton at 4pm and being in the Hotel in Germany by 10pm (although I took the Tunnel)!
Few good hotels in the area we stay about 20-30mins from the Ring near Cochem and usually do a lot of driving on the roads around the area Good petrol can be found in Adenaur (102ron) but do be careful even some German V-Power is only 97 compared to UK's 99.
I should add the first time I went it cost me over £10k in the end but I do have a fully forged 2.5 now (and the breakdown cover cost me less than I'd have used in fuel to actually drive it back!)

If you go for one of the lesser hotels then you'll be looking at around 30 - 45 euros a night the one i've used includes a really good breakfast in with that.
So accommodation 3 nights £135, ferry £45, petrol dependant on laps etc say £150 laps say 6 um not sure of current price so say £80 then food and drink so around the 450-500 mark

Been twice and it usually costs me around £700 for 3 nights, 4 laps, beer, food etc but thats IF i'm taking a passenger who is sharing the travelling costs. Its 500 miles each way for me so thats nearly 4 tanks plus about another 80 litres while out there.
Stayed at the Hotel Pension Sonnenwende last time for £30 a night. Great people, 5 mins from the Ring and breakfast included plus garage facilities.

A bit hippy but there are a few camp sites near which reduces cost (although camping am nuerburgring was still €50 a night) - but no getting away from that fuel bill..........

Its always best to check the Ring calendar before getting excited as its not open for TF days as often as before.
It was only open for 8 days in June this year and we nearly made the mistake of booking a hotel/ferry for a weekend when it wasnt open so be careful.
Also, avoid booking when theres motorsport events on at the GP circuit as this increases the prices on accomodation etc. Even the local garage puts up fuel prices over the weekend so Thursdays/Mondays are best if you're filling up.
This gives you an idea of how difficult it is to plan a trip, based on the available days its open

I went with Dino who owns http://www.nurburgringuk.com/
I stayed at a hotel that is walking distance from the ring. Dino arranged the whole weekend from carting in France on the way there (I came third!) to taking all his customers round the ring individually for a flying lap!

Yes I am, cheers that'll be useful! I will look out for your motor, or if you are convoying I could team up with you guys as me and the missus haven't decided how to get down there yet!
Good to hear you have similar drivers with little track experience, thought I would be out of my depth if I went there bit as you say it's about more than just turning up to a track and doing a few laps!
