It's on a plate under the bonnet and will start GC8----.

If it a WRX then it won't be a version. The phrase 'version' was given to STI imprezas.
It it's an M reg then its more than likely a pre-facelift 1995 WRX import, but you knew that anyway chap.
As above, get the 8 digit number put up which is found on the vin plate.

That code is a car built between Oct 1994 and Aug 1995. It's a My C1 series classic (pre-facelift) WRX.

Your car doesnt have a version, it has a model year, the only subaru's that had "versions" as denoted by subaru japan were the version 2 though to version 6 STI models (no there was no version 1 STI, that was just denoted as STI as they didnt know if they were going to produce any others).

+1 mate,I use the iPad camera connection kit,upload to the pad,then to photo bucket.So much easier than my ancient knackered laptop.
