Default Insurance and bigger brakes

I was just thinking to my self why if you fit larger better more efficient brakes ,does your insurance get loaded surely it should go the other way .by making the vehicle brake quicker and easier it's making it safer there for less risk of an accident therefore insurance should not be loaded at the very least .

Nah, insurance companies don't think like that.

It's a good thought but insurance companies work in the opposite way....
Why would you need bigger brakes?
If they are needed that much why didn't the manufacturer fit them during production?
Surely it means you can drive faster and brake later.... therefore be more liable to speed?
Would the new super brakes make you feel invincible and lull you into a false sense of security?

Any excuse they can come up with they'll up your premium....

Yeah I agree with what every one says i was hoping for an official view on it
It like this last renewal I had went up just short of a hundred quid so I phoned asked why ,I was told it was because of last year in the Icey snowy spell and all the accidents .eh scuse me I didn't have an accident and they will be making their money back because not that many people protect their no claims

As above, the insurers will question why you need bigger brakes, and assume you must be driving the car quicker than the car was designed for.

Says the man with AP 6 pots

Hence why i posted

I'm personally not fussed about uprated brakes (with the companies who let us decide if we load extra for mods).
I won't give a discount, but i won't increase the price either.

Some insurers will want more, or increase the price, as per the reasons in my first post.

The same argument could be made against uprated pads or discs etc.

You'll find that most specialists will not load your policy if you have upgraded the brakes.. A decent specialist will like to see upgraded braqkes if there is a significant power gain from exisiting modifications..
