Default 350 to 400 How Much ?

Looking at getting my sti ppp 03 to around 380-400, she is currently at around the 340-50 mark,

I have done the headers ( harvey ) which are wrapped/ported with flow matched u/p and decat d/p, k&n panel filter, colder grade plugs and remapped by Bob R.

I want a little more now i dont want over 400 but close to it would suffice,

Im no expert but im guessing were looking at ,

Td06 20g /md321h etc
Fmic ?
cai
660 inj
Mapping,

Would this be about right ?

Does anyone suggest best places to source these parts and how much do you think this can be done for , I am gong to slowboy-racing next week to have the car tested to see if she is healthy and then we are going to make a plan but i want to get a few ideas first.

Thanks, Stew

Standard STI top mount & Airbox both good for 400bhp

Injectors might just fall short so a FPR to build up the fuel pressure to get more through as you dont want them at 99% and if you have not already done it a new fuel pump £200-£250 for both

Billet SC42 Turbo £1400+vat(i think)

Remap depends on Open Scource/Ecutec but you probably know a rough cost for this.

Gaz.

PS. If you still have the PPP exhaust/backbox this will also need replacing as it becomes a bit of a restriction around the 350bhp mark

Sorry to hijack but I am after pretty much the same, 400 ish. I have a 3" full decat, green panel filter, ECUtek remap and now at 323 HP. I was thinking a Md321h turbo. Is a sc42 better?

Yes, went up and had a chat with him the other day really nice chap and very knowledgable, he was advising fmic to keep things safe plus 660 injectors

I want it to be safe obviously but also want to do it at reasonable cost, I can see some awkward decisions coming my way or just more money !!

Loving that. Just need the headers, turbo and switchable boost from inside car. So just the expensive bits. I can't wait till Xmas has come and gone, then it's new turbo time and headers me thinks. I might ask Santa for them.

Headers should have find here in for sale section, just search for GT Spec or RCM,Hayward and scottt, these you can buy used for around £250-£350

Turbo depends which one,but 20G you can pick up from £450-£650(for used one),MD range are around £800+ used ones.

Switchable boost setting, you can have on your OE ecu without the problem, like via OS tune or EcuTek.If its no money object Apexi AVC-R is best option

No,on both you can have two boost settings(low and high boost),just two fuel maps you can't have.

TD06 20G would be a very bad choice on this car as it would be too laggy.
Taking your pink injectors to their limit, around 370 bhp with a suitable turbo eg. TD05 18G for £725 and around 360 bhp or TD05 20G for £850 would make far more sense.
With the 18G you do not need to change to a front mount and with the 20G you are on the limit of what is wise with your existing TMIC.
Personally I would stick with the OE panel filter/airbox to this level on your particular model

ok, what about if we went fmic & injectors, would it be ok then. Also what if i stuck with td05 18g and some other form of induction what sort of power would we be likely to find ?

Regards stewart.

With an 18G you do not need to change injectors, induction or front mount on your STi 03
So why change to another form of induction or injectors?
Your modification route to achieve your objective has to be well thought out in advance and you then need to stick with that plan. Fitting bits on from here and there is unlikely to work. They have to be complimentary (and cost effective)
If you want to go the 20G route, 650cc injectors will give you head room and an efficient FMIC will show benefits over the top mount but as I said above this is around where the transformation to FMIC takes place so the FMIC on your STi M/Y 03 is not essential. Chances are the FMIC will have its own induction kit.

Thanks Harvey, picked it up late last night. Have had pheasant issues !! It us tempting to go for the lot but like you Neil recomended the first stage. Just a quick one Harvey, what would my tmic, injectors, and turbo make when sold on. ? Roughly just so ive some idea what I would make back when I go ahead with it ?

Harvey I have a SC38 on my 03STi that makes around 360bhp. Would headers and your up pipe make much on that?

Cheers

Cant answer for Harvey but I would say yes, certainly on the spool up. I have a set on and the difference was noticeable. It seems your about the same as me...to go a bit more we need to do quite abit. !!

I am not the best guy to advise on secondhand prices. I see secondhand pink injectors from £100- £200 in good condition. VF35 turbo will sell easily. About £250 and £300 if you are lucky and someone needs one.

Ported headers and matched uppipe will add to the driving enjoyment of any car compared with standard Subaru headers and uppipe. Better spool, crisper and more responsive. Marginally more boost or the same boost for less duty cycle and noticably more torque with freer breathing top end. All DEI heat wrapped. Cost effective.
The alternative would be GT2 tubular headers but only if you were going to run my trick three bolt uppipe. With the supplied uppipe at your level, that would be a disaster with very poor spool and lethargic response. Less torque. Expensive option, especially when you take heat wrapping into account and you are at the very bottom of where these tubular headers with trick uppipe could be a worthwhile option.
