Are 245 tyres to wide for 8" width rims
As above basically but they are going to be used on the track, will there be too much movement if the tyre is squeezed on.
What is generally best for the track 215 225 235 245 ??????? when it comes to 8" width rims obviously

My understanding is 245s will go on an 8" rim but will look very chunky. I currently have 235/40s on my 18s but I am considering 245/35s for my next tyres

Most tyres have a range of suitable rim widths specified.
E.G. 225/45/17 is 7 to 8 inches, with 7.5 being the preferred size.
Look up a well known tyre ( Toyo R888 ? ) and it will specify the range that they think is acceptable.

P.S. I run 235/35 on an 8" rim myself...

I have 245 tyres on my 8.5" wide rims and they do give the 'fuller' look on them which is what I was looking for aswell as better ride comfort. I would say the 245's would be too big on an 8" wide rim.
