Default Broken turbo - Going bigger...

Hi all

My VF23 recently went on my 55 WRX. Thinking of going up to a VF34, already have a full 3" exhaust and was told by the garage it can go up to circa 300bhp with a remap if I buy a VF34.
My only hangup on this is they want £750 for the remap, this seems expensive?! How much should I be looking to pay for a remap when I change the turbo?

Presumably you have already had the car modded / mapped, might be easier to contact the original mapper ?

I haven't had the car long so am not sure if it has been mapped already? I will try and find out. If I get the turbo changed at the garage then take it somewhere else to get mapped will it drive? Will it cause damage driving on a VF34 without a map?

Thanks

Where are you located?

For remap £750 is way too much,i would ask Rich@FB Tuning,Duncan@Race Dynamix,Neil@Slowboy Racing and Graham@EngineMapper for OS remap and price is from £225-£350

VF34 is nice turbo with supported mods, you should have nice 330-350bhp.

The original turbo for the MY05 Blob WRX was the Mitsubishi TD04..........if you have an IHI VF23 then it's been changed. This is usually done in conjuction with filter / injectors /de-cat / STi TMIC / plugs and a re-map.

You really need to know what's been done to the car

Rich at Fb tuning would be your best bet, he is situated near High Wycombe. My car is with him at the moment and many more members will recommend him
