"SCOOBYCLINIC SPRINT EVENT" Blyton 2nd oct
Hi,
The very fact we have an ice driver weekend to give away, gave rise to our original idea of the purchase of a billet turbo giving free entry to a prize draw seem a little limited, so we have organised a sprint challenge at the newly re-surfaced Blyton Park raceway instead.
In association with JAVALIN trackday events it will take place on Sunday the 2nd of October 2011.
All makes and models will be welcome especially scoobs of course and Scoobyclinic tech staff will be in attendance to give technical assistance including mechanical and computer diag on the day.
The entry fee for competitors will be £125.00, spectators very welcome entry fee to be confirmed but we are pushing to make it free.
The private entry (non tuner) winner of the day receives this............
An adrenaline packed weekend in Sweden driving our ice driver scoob on the frozen lakes all expenses paid including accommodation and the flight.
This whole event will over the next few days evolve, we hope, and if successful we will run it next year as a sprint series, allowing owners of tuned cars to let their hair down with the possibility of a great prize, a prize better than any seen in other race series such as Time Attack or the nippon challenge etc.
A web page with details about the day and on-line entry for competitors should be live within a few days.
Any views are welcome please don't hesitate to call to book in or wait for the on-line booking to go live, let it evolve.
cheers
Kev

Hi,
as stated earlier we will let this event evolve over the next few days.
One question already asked is can competitors run slicks .
The answer we feel is that yes tuners and track cars welcome with slicks or rain tyres but only road legal cars that pass the scrutineers eagle eye will be allowed to enter the prize draw.
This way we feel it gives the average fella/woman on the street with his/her tuned up pride and joy a chance to have a play and win a fantastic prize.
cheers

Hi,
web site will be up and running in a couple of days, on line booking form will be on there, otherwise start a list on here if you like get your names down as there will be a limit to how many cars we can run.
We want as many scoobs as possible if you get your names on a list you wont be disappointed and will not lose your entry to a non scoob.
Cheers

Hi,
quick update, been giving some thought as to how we police the prize and make sure everyone has a equal chance of winning it.
Firstly we came up with having classes, the winner of each class gets entry to the prize draw, however there will always be someone who claims to have a standard car that actually isnt and therefore in the wrong class gaining an unfair advantage.
Finally we think we have an answer, every one who pays the entry fee of £125.00 enters the prize draw, that way everyone has a level chance of winning the prize whatever power the car is, the winner to be drawn at the event.
So basically think of it as a track day at £125.00 with a raffle ticket included for the prize draw of the ice driver weekend.
Simples.
cheers

Have you got any suggestions.
I want this to become a yearly event, we want it to be exciting and with a great prize on offer it will be.
Hows about we sort out a number of classes and the winner of each class enter the prize draw, is that a better idea.
As I stated at the beginning of this thread "any suggestions welcome" so please chuck some ideas into the pot.
cheers

At last a positive.
As many people will already know Blyton has just been re-surfaced and has a completely new track, if we can generate enough interest the owner has even offered to put in a brand new drag strip.
Web site and on line booking form will soon be live.
cheers

Just a few ideas from me.
So that there are not arguments over the classes you would be best seperating them by something that is obvious to see so. A possible suggestion is to seperate cars by the type of intercooler being used - a car with a top mount will only ever reach a certain power level so generally 'lower' powered cars would still be running a top mount and it is something that is obvious to see!?!
Maybe run a 'non impreza' class as somone above has shown interest in bringing a forester along?
Then to keep the road and track cars seperate have a class for competition cars who can run slicks, and everyone else has to run road tyres?
1, Non-Impreza class
2, Road Impreza running top mount intercooler
3, Road Impreza running front mount intercooler
4, Competition Impreza running slicks
The winner of each class then being entered into a prize draw is a good one.

One point worth noting is that at the moment this isn't a Subaru only event, all makes and models are welcome. If there's enough interest from enough Subarus though it may well evolve into a Subaru sprint event/series in future years.

Hi Steve,
classes not finalised yet but I guess running slicks you gain an unfair advantage over the guy having a fly round on a set of "ditch finders", therefore your car would have to move up a class.
Its early days yet and all input is welcome, we are aiming to make this a well priced, fair and competitive event with a great prize, get your name down .
cheers

I'm genuinely interested to know what your definition of a 'normal car' is though. Your profile uses the phrase "600bhp'ish", would you class that as 'normal'?
All constructive comments and ideas very, very welcome.

Class winners into a draw sounds fair enough, you still have an element of competition taking place which means the winner earned the prize, rather than was just given it.
