Looking for advice peeps, driving down motorway Sunday and engine in my 95import started rattling and smoke out of exhaust, it was a 2.5. Took it to garage and bottom end is gone, piston damage the lot...
Now I'm no mechanic so not sure what's best options.
I have had a quote of £3500 for a fully forged new build but that is well outta my budget. Any advice is welcome people.

 

depends what your budget is chap. If you can afford a rebuild I'd suggest sourcing a 2.5 short block and replace it with that. What sort of power are you running?

dont forget to factor a map into your costings plus gaskets/oil/antifreeze etc

 

Was running 300-310. Budget is about £2500 so not sure what I can do. It's a new sim-tec ecu which is only bout 6months old. In ideal world I could get replacement engine and throw on a front mount all in budget lol

 

Strange that your running a 2.5 but only making 300bhp. Why not go for a newage sti 2.0 lump or a closed deck then map up to 330? You'll get change from 2k for that, with a front mount.

 

I know mate I didn't understand that either, I bought it from some1 who had the 2.5 dropped in but didn't have money 2 finish project, so I added hks cone and cobra back box and a new ecu and only got that from it. Engine must of been
Shot when I bought it, but it lasted nearly 2yrs. So where can I find what ur suggesting mate?

 

In the marketplace on here mate, either from a breaker or one removed from a well historied car would be best.
