Overpriced Sti.. [pics]
Took this out for a test drive earlier as in the market for a new one. Drove nice, but the price - £7995!!
Timing belt is due, needs a service, crease and scuff on rear bumper, 95000 miles and even when looking through the service history there was an invoice from scoobyworld documenting a service and at the bottom in the notes it said 'Engine Knocking'!!
I went back out to have a listen off the motor running with the bonnet up and a few revs but couldn't hear anything? Wierd.
Just want to know if anyone knows the history of the car? As despite the above i would put an offer in for it (but way below the asking price).

There are a lot of owners (mainly garages) that have priced their cars at totally ridiculous prices. People are not buying due to economic constraints, insurance is ridiculous and fuel is extortionate. These market conditions mean that cars like the one you listed need to reflect the current conditions. Considering it is far from perfect with a bottom end knocking they should half that price and then try and sell. Personally I wouldn't go anywhere near it.
I have seen 2004/5 STi going for that price and although they may not be immaculate they are still a bargain in comparison. Don't get me wrong a properly serviced and enthusiast owned car will and should fetch good money and I for one am always willing to pay that little extra premium for a properly sorted car; by that I mean:
Genuine Full Service History that is documented and been on time with both the receipts and stamps to prove. Stamps alone mean nothing unless the garages can validate the work carried out. I hate reading the same old false dribble (showroom condition, immaculate, FSH blah blah bollocks bollocks) and when you turn up its a ****ing shed.
My advice, don't bother hold out for a good car unless they come down drastically in price and its too good of a deal to pass up.

I agree with morpheus1870
If the engine is knocking even slightly I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole you would just be letting yourself in for a world of trouble and a lot of expense and especially and that price. Think you would regret it mate.

5-6k can't believe you would waste your time looking at it. I had a enthusiast owned 2005 STI with £28,000 miles immaculate throughout and I had that up for £8,995 and am a trader.

True say buddy but an sti gearbox and internals (blob) are in another league. That's a fair amount of torque going through the 5speed, would have thought its a matter of when rather than if.

i wouldnt go anywhere near it...overpriced and likely to be a money pit. FSH, enthusiast owned, reasonable mileage, a decent price and in excellent condition are the only things that tempt me out to view a car.

I was also looking at, dare i say it.... an Evo 8 as there's a few low mileage ones kicking about on the bay for circa 8k which is about bang on budget.
Only reason im looking at dealerships is because i'll be using finance to fund some of it due to me just spending all my savings on a Ducati 848

This is going back last December sorry ,but iT was that cheap (REALISTICALLY PRICED) a main Subaru dealer bought it and flogged it for £11k a week later ,but I had it up for 5 weeks before that. It's a strange world the chap could of saved him self £2k by doing a national search on auto trader

I may part with mine if the op is interested. Full stamp and invoice service history up til 60k(18 months ago) and now reciepts for over 2k @ Xtremescoobies in Essex for-
At 67.000miles.
Exedy uprated clutch
A.p.i oil pump
Zerosports thermostat
Cambelt and tensioners

The mileage is currently at 71k and recently had a full health check @ xtremescoobies as i am just in the process of upping the power to 360-370bhp and wanted some peace of mind. For full spec and pics check out my garage as i am currently doing this with iphone.
