Does you engine bay have a greasy protective coating on it or has the dealer removed this prior to your collection of the vehicle?

I worked for Volvo for many years and all new cars were de waxed before sold but not under the bonnet, same when I worked for rover, so I would imagine Subaru to be the same. But don't know for sure. Although My 03 STI still has the wax on the bulkhead from new.

Mine (not 2011) had a yellow waxey coating on when new. It is easily removed though with de-greaser and a bit of care.

It would appear that removal invalidates your warranty

Removed mine with some Gunk degreaser and a pressure washer. Just have to be brave with it!

As above, it was horrible stuff and all sorts of crap was getting stuck to it, once removed (with care) it was much better!
