Question Used Wheels, What to look for?

Hi, I'm picking up some used Prodrive PFF7's this weekend. The seller says their in mint condition, like new.

I'm just wondering if there are any tell tale signs that I should look for that would tell me to avoid them?

If they look like new I'm just a bit concerned that he may have got a set of damaged wheels refurbed and covered up the damage. To be honest its not a major concern but would just like some tips on what to look for.

The wheels are coming with Good Year F1's fitted.

Thanks

Just make sure they are straight and no obvious damage such as cracks or kerbing on them, can't really do much more although a quick cheap refurb will be easy to spot

check the inside of rim aswell for dodgey repairs, fit to car and give them a spin and any damage should stick out like a sore thumb

if seller has nowt to hide he should be ok with all the checks before handing over your hard earned.... hth

When you say inside the rim do you mean under where the tyre is fitted? It's just that they already have tyres fitted on them so wouldn't be able to remove them.

I guess all I can really do is have a good look at them visualy.

Would it be advisable to get them fitted profesionaly? Don't get me wrong I can change a wheel, or 4, but I was just thinking about checking if they are balanced correctly.

How do you refurb them yourself?

I have some Oz Prodrives that I wouldn't mind repainting.....I am off now for 6 weeks so, have plenty of time...LOL!
Is it easy? What do I need?

He's got good feedback, albeit as a buyer, little as a seller. I've not been given any reason for concern but when your handing over 800 sheets then I think it's only normal to be wary.

I guess i'll find out in good time. I'll keep everyone posted as I'll be picking them up on Friday or Saturday. Fingers crossed there's no problems and they're exactly as described. Can't wait to get rid of my standard STI 17's! They're looking a little worse for wear with kerbing and the paint bubbling.
