Default mot fail??

Some t**t has hit my car in Morrisons and drove off, leaving me with a cracked rear light - MOT is due end of the month, will it fail on this? It's actually got a 2-3cm hole in the lens, and a nice crack where it meets the bodywork - light's still work fine though! Any advice would be great cheers!

But you can repair it.

"1.1 Front and Rear Position lamps and Registration Plate Lamps.

An effective proprietary repair (e.g. lens repair tape etc.) must be assessed on its merits, considering security, colour, light output and durability."

If there is a hole, the bits are likely to be inside the light. You COULD remove the light, shake gently to remove the bits, then fix back in place using blue-tack etc to hold the bit, while superglue is applied to fix it in place, before Aralditing over it for waterproofing.
I would look on e-bay or to breakers for a replacement in the long run though.
