Default What Subaru to go for?

Hi all,

I will probably be selling my car in the next month or so, and with the money I have saved will hopefully have about 8-9k for a new car. in the next few months,

I have always wanted a subaru, and was looking at p1's when i got my last car,

The question is, What should I be looking at with my budget?

I like the Wr1's and P1's and think maybe I could get an ok P1 for 9ishk?

And I also like the the type r's ver 5/6.

I know Its down to personal choice, But after some opinions?
It will be my first Subaru and used weekends only, so after something nice and enjoyable.

And opinions welcomed thanks

The P1 is a lovely car but finding any with low mileage is becoming more rare these days. Plus you have everything that comes with owning an older car. I'd go for the WR1 personally, but that's just because I'm a fan of the blobeyes, plus you don't see many about I find.

Type R version 6. Well setup suspension wise and running about 350.
That would make a great weekend toy.
Plus you'll have a few grand left over to cover insurance and personal touches you want to add to the car.
Newage cars are great cars if you need it everyday, but for fun and that all important grin factor, classic wins everytime.

What do you plan on using the car for? Daily (mileage?)? Commute? Track toy?

Hi , Insurance should hopefully not be much of a problem for me now, A p1 is definitely on my top list of what I would like,

If you can't find a nice P1 then my next port of call would be a Jap blob sti with wider track, twinscroll and DCCD................... in white obviously

Hi,

you should be able to pick up a tidy Type-R for £6K, then drop a 2.5 motor into it, that's really a fun car...

dunx

P.S. Later STI engines are massively under-stressed mine is running over 400 bhp

Not really. Ask the right people and there is no difference.

Jap engines are stronger and have better internals and more powerful. Jap cars are better specced and more tuneable out of the box.

You might get my03 spec c which would be good as a weekend toy, or if you want a little more refinement try to get a my05 jdm sti, that's what I ended up getting as I wanted the extras as it is my daily drive. Superb cars even as stock although a few minor mods liven them up a bit
