Default bugeye power question

car is about ready for a mapping session
its a my02 uk sti

mods
simtec
td05 20g
adj fpr
rcm headers and up-pipe
standard sti top mount
standard pink injectors
3" full decat
20% methanol mix
walbor pump

just debating if its worth adding a front mount and having the injectors flowed ??

what power do you think i will see without doing the fmic and injectors and what would i gain if i did ???

yes i know my clutch will be close to max , and for the keyboard warriors brakes and suspension have already been upgraded

cheers phil

Hi Phill
FMIC will be addition, you will probably see lower temps and more BHP.
And probably your Injectors are probably maxed,i would recommend fit at least FPR or get your injectors flowed to 650cc

How much BHP you are now running?

With TD05-20G you can push up to 420bhp with meth, some without will make around 380-400bhp

You can recoup quite a bit of the cost of a more efficient FMIC by selling on your STi TMIC In respect of injectors, I think the pinks should cope as remember you are throwing in 1/5th Methanol which should require less volome of actual fuel. (I think that's right) LOL

yeah i know mate, but if adding a fmic is only going to add say 10bhp more over a top mount i have to weigh up if its worth it or not

hence my post

The FMIC is better at keeping charge temps down.......have a search on here about Harvey's work on FMIC / TMIC using real measurements and not guesswork.

And then you will go and buy one.

Shaun

PS what's on the induction side of things ??

Shaun

Mine..

FMIC is actually an APS DR 500 jobby, It's quite old and I think it cost me about £1.2k eeek !! but was best at the time, Nowadays still probably not as good as a Hybrid GT2

It was actually fitted not a million miles away from you at Roger Clark........another exercise in wallet removal LOL

Harvey should be able to advise on wing mounted CAC as he has worked with them

I made 360/400 on a 2.5 without Meths and headers. You should make over 400bhp

I made 382 without meth. My RCM 550's were pretty close to their limit to be honest though.
I'm now going with bigger injectors and a 10% meth mix. I'm hoping for circa 410.
You might be ok with a FPR but would deffo go front mount. Harvey does them for about £350 I think, not only keep temps down but look the dogs rude bits too.

my 2002 prodrive sti bug is running about 370 on:

AF TD05 20g - 1.5bar boost
850cc injectors
walbro fuel pump
single decat
panel filter

In the next few months, I am adding:

Hybrid FMIC & CAK
GT headers
Uppipe

Hoping for around the 400 mark... but thats on v-power, no meth.

650cc will be OK for 20G and other turbos.

Blue injectors from the hatch come up on here from time to time as do modded blue injectors from the bug wrx (Milleniumracer did quite a few). Might save a few pennies over buying new.

Yea 375 isn't great power considering your using 20% meth.
Get some bigger injectors like 650's and you'll see far better results. I'm in a similar position to you fella, just waiting to fit new box and injectors then going for a 10% meth mix. We think I'll see 400+ which I'll be very happy with.

My pinks maxed out at 402bhp on the MD321 T on the STi TMIC. I had a FPR to help though.
