Default Scooby Insurance

Can anyone recommend a cheap car insurance comapny for a 1999 Classic Subaru 2 litre turbo? I am insuring the car as a 2nd vehicle and the car would do no more than 4k miles per annum.

It would not be used for commuting purposes and would be a weekend car. I have had a quote on a 1998 M3 Coupe by Footman James, a member of Aon insurance and for 12 months cover I have been quoted £283. However, the Subaru does not qualify under the future classic status that the M3 does and I was quoted by the same company £2500.

Can anyone give me any companies that would give me a cheap quote to insure the Scooby as a second vehicle?

Cheers

Stu

PS Good to be back

Most will tell you Moley @ Keith Michaels. Only experience I have of these guys is ****.

I will suggest A-Plan. I recommend them due to excellent customer service, great communication, great price.

Some of the things Mathew at A-Plan sorted me out with:

Excess cover - less than £50 extra
NCB protected - free
Existing mods - free
Future mods - no charge
Like for like mod replacement

When I moved my premium with Bell went up by £100 so I guess I'm in a less desireable post code. I now park on the street.

I don't have a garage!! (Keith Michaels )

Adrian Flux quoted me £1900

Bell quoted me £1400 basic - no mods, no like for like, £300 extra for PNCB etc

Moley basically hung up on me when he found out I didn't have a garage

A-Plan got me the above cover for £998!

I'm 28, license held for 4 years, 4 yrs ncb, 53 plate WRX STi Type UK.

In fact I shall copy this and post it else where seeing as I so often see "big-up" posts about other brokers I think it's fair to do likewise for A-Plan.

maybe try aviva, they seem to be competitive at the moment. Just taken a policy out with them for next 12 months. £617 for my 03 bug Sti, with protected no claims. (im 26, 4yrs ncb, good postcode). Helped a mate find insurance for his rx8, they were also cheapest for him by a long way.

The thing with insurance is that it also depends on yourself as a person as much as the car so one company might be brilliant for one but terrible for you even with the same car. A-plan get a good rep on here but they wanted the earth from me so I found them far too expensive.....34 yrs old, 6yrs no claims in a half decent area on a Bug WRX £2000.

Direct line wanted £370 for it (with a connected tracker) so it was a no brainer really.

I would rate Moley @ KM as I have had nothing but good experience - on my third concurrent year with them and this will be my 4th on 6 years of scooby ownership. I wasn't happy with A-Plan and just couldn't work with their small print. My insurance now with Moley is only £10 more than last year and is £70 cheaper than when I first got the car despite moving from a sleepy hollow in Yorkshire into Greater London in that time as well as carrying out extensive modding including a power hike to approx 280bhp at present.

38, protected full no claims, no points or accidents, all mods declared including class 1 business use for £530.
