300 to be safe. Even then the engine could give out though. It's an old car now remember. How's it been looked after etc....

Have a look at AndyForrestPerformance.co.uk, tells you what are the best mods and what power you can expect from them.

about 350 ish max, although thats pushing it.

tbh i think andy's site is a little over optimistic with running 360-390 through the standard uk engine.

Very much a case of "how long is a piece of string", mate.

Factors such as mileage, type of previous use, quality of servicing and future intended use all come into play. I'm of the opinion (based on experience of owning one at the mid 300s for 6 years) that they are reliable at the mid 300s, BUT with the right supporting mods (which won't be cheap, e.g. you need to uprate the turbo, fueling, intercooling, ECU ideally simtek) and it needs to be driven with some degree of mechanical sympathy as the five speed box will be a weak link!

Best,

Ns04

350 in a 11 year old standard UK engine,
Hope you have a spare car for when your having yours rebuilt, lol.

There will always be a few cars that run that sort of power and have no problems, but on the other side there are many that have gone bang.

Personally I wouldn't do it but if you can afford it if things go wrong then go for it buddy.

A mate's was standard and went Bang!

If you tune it, you risk breaking it - it's only prudent to have contingency funds

How much of a risk depends on the factors I mentioned above. A fit one will run in the mid 300s IF it's a fit one and modified and looked after correctly. Question is: do you have a fit one?
