What would I need to do?
Afternoon all my classic impreza has just over 320bhp and I will be coming into money soon. I am just wondering on what I would need to do and how much it would cost to go to around the 400+bhp mark obviously a new gear box and clutch would be needed but what else would I need and any ideas on cost thanks in advance.

Turbo 2000 (uk) standard internals. Vf34, cone filter, uprated fuel pump, turbosmart boost controller, de-cat exhaust 3.0 inch going to 2.5 inch, uprated ngk plugs, uprated clutch, bigger injectors, full remap, uprated discs (grooved and dimpled), sti topmount. I know I will need a bigger turbo and bigger brakes but not sure what else and what route to take but don't want to change the car ie sti etc love my light classic lol.

Mine is around that sort of level. It is a 2.5 forged conversion, done at Harvey Performance.
Can I suggest you try and do as I did before making up your mind. A friend arranged for me to drive his bugeye with 6-speed box, 2 litres, around 400bhp, and also another, this one a classic, but 5-speed box and 2.5 conversion, same sort of power.
It convinced me that what suited ME was the effortless drive of the 2.5, just so much torque...........
There are other ways to go, but DO try and test drive what you think might suit.
Once you decide, roughly, what you want, contact your chosen engine builder and talk to him. If you get one even half decent, they will talk you through what you THINK you want, and discuss what works and what doesn't.
THEN, the more reputable ones will set about putting your dreams into reality, WITHOUT allowing you to spend on stuff you don't need.
I would suggest you get input from Harvey Performance, (Harvey Smith, posts on here as "harvey"), David at API, and Allan Jeffery, before making any decision. Those three I have nothing but praise for. There ARE others, but I haven't had enough to do with them to say try them.
For reference, mine runs 2.5 forged bottom end, classic heads, HS TD05 20g turbo, FMIC, 740cc injectors, FPR, Harvey Smith up-pipe/header combination matched to turbo and exhaust ports, 3" stainless exhaust, and K&N inlet.

That is the price you pay (no pun intended). I dont expect to see any cash back for any of the mods I have made. Once you get to grips with that, you're laughing (but your mrs wont be!).

400 on a standard turbo 2000 engine and box
=
BOOM !!!!!!!!
You would be better off selling your car, put a few grand to whatever you get and buy a car that has a forged engine etc.
If you really want the magic 400 out of your car then it's going to get expensive.
6 speed box £2K
Forged lump £2/4K
20G/MD series £500/1000
Full 3" exhaust £400
Etc etc etc
Then you've got brakes and suspension to think about. Before you know it your at 10large. You really need to consider the money and if your prepared to lose alot of money. Let's say you spend 10K on it and you end up with a really nice 400 BHP classic with all the toys, what's it really worth, 6 maybe 7 grand if your lucky. More like 5 to 6 in the real world.
Don't set yourself a target number and try and chase figures. Either enjoy what you have or look for something else in my opinion buddy.
