With an MOT test - does the tester now take your car out for a 'road drive' as part of this testing?
Thanks
if you are referring to a subaru or any other 4 wheel drive then yes he will have to test the brakes on the road with a tapley meter, as for any other car there is no reason to.
...and thats why i asked mit. but it appears above that subaru 4wd should have test drive?
if i thought it did not need a road test i would certainly be asking questions of garage.
its not a test drive as such to see how it drives, its solely for the purpose of testing the efficiency of the brakes the mot tester should have no reason to go more than 200yards to test the brakes and do no more the speedlimit, if they go and dont come back for ten minutes they have thrashed your car on the way to get the sandwiches.

Not heard this before about mot brake test on the road for 4wd .The my00 uk turbo i had from new and the 05 Jdm Sti i have owned from November 05 have both been brake tested on the two wheel brake tester
The only thing I did notice is the note on the advisory that said due to permanent 4 wheel drive certain tests could not be carried out. Maybe this was the brake test?
Every MOT test I have had in Subarus has had a road brake test. Using a 2wd rolling road is harmful to the central diff. Here is an old thread on the subject;
