Default How to tell genuine classic sti wagon?

After a bit of advice, Looking at a classic wagon sti 96 model which seems to be genuine but is there a definate way to tell? There are quite a few which just claim to be and if I'm honest I don't know alot about them, Only ever owned wrx's. I know the obvious like interior, brakes etc. But most of the obvious bits can easily be obtained on ebay which is why I'm unsure, Any info would be greatly appreciated

The applied model number on the vin plate is the best place to start
