What Scoob to get?? PLEASE HELP
Hi all,
I am new to the scoobyworld but my dad used to have a type ra 1999 and a green uk turbo, So obviously I got hook to there sound and wanted 1 when I grew up, I'm 23 and have sold my civic type r, now its time to try the scoob. I just havnt got a clue which one to get I prefer to get a blue or white or black Classic shape as I love them, just do not know which type. The insurance on the type r and ra is waaaaaay too much so that rules them out, Please give advice. Also I was thinking when I get one I was going to put an STI engine in it (Brand New from Powerstation £2500) I just havent a clue. Like I said all advice and help welcome thanks.
Oh and I only want to spend about 3g-ish as stated above looking to put new eng in.
Cheers all

UK turbo is by far the cheapest to insure. They run about 220BHP as standard I believe (if there are any standard Imprezas left, lol),
As regards to fitting a STI engine, I really wouldn't bother. You will have to inform the insurance company to what you have done so the policy will go up anyway. I think you would be better off buying a nice UK car, do a couple of little things like exhaust, filter and a re-map and see how you get on. Get used to it, enjoy it and then in a year or two upgrade to a STI 2/3.
You should be able to get a UK car up to about 260BHP without any problem, that's plenty to start you off.

Ah thats good to hear, Yeah I spose so, just throwing money away effectively.
So with the following things exhaust, re-map, filter etc that should bring it to 260bhp or less is that right? Should I get the newest classic shape or does it matter if I get the older one? Sorry if I sound like a dumba** I just want to be sure and you guys are the experts lol, I see you have visited powerstation MattyB, was that for an engine rebuild if so how much did you pay?
Cheers

Thats a good price, but I would'nt want to waste money on paint if I plan on getting an STI in a year or so later. I'll have a think bout it though as I might be able to put up with having silver for a year, I'll get back to you carl
If you wanna look i can send you photos. email me carlfnash@hotmail.co.uk. I won't be home till the weekend mind! it's in warwickshire so just up m5 for you mate!
Your budget will get you a classic face lift car. Then save up and get yourself a nice exhaust system, filter then re-map. Be sure to have your car mapped as soon as you've put your bits on though. You should see around 260 with those bits done which is a nice number for a Impreza 'virgin', lol. Look to be buying a 99/2000 car with your budget mate.
My car was Powerstations development car so all the work was done by them at there cost, thankfully. Things start getting expensive when your looking for 350+.
