Looks very nice mate, congrats

No the vf34 is not standard on your car, think the v4 came with the vf24 or vf28 as standard. I would of thought you should see something around 320-340bhp on those mods. And I would of thought it would be close

Don't worry about beating your brothers m3 it'll be a easy task
M3 is really heavy and only good once rolling.....I had the csl 6 months ago which made a standard m3 look like a old fiesta!

280ps standard 276bhp if you want to convert that.
The vf34 is a roller bearing turbo which was fitted to the my02 spec c and s202, it's bigger than a 24 and low friction.
Just be warned that 300bhp won't see an m3 off no matter what anyone says and your engine will be at it's top end for reliability on the vf34, and your gearbox may not last (and your clutch).

It's been on the same clutch for the last 2 years so no probs there. What turbo came standard on a 98 type r then? What you mean the gearbox won't last what sort of power do u think it's runnin

The 5 speed box on these cars isn't the toughest thing in the world. At 340bhp you are getting towards the limit if what it will handle so treat it with some mechanical sympathy if you want it to last.

When it does go you have 3 options - replace it with another similar box (cheapest option, but it will eventually go again), rebuild the gearbox with a straight cut gear set (PPG or Scoobyclimic) (most expensive option, but best IMO) or get a six speed box from a newage and the prop and rear diff and fit those (about £2K to buy the box etc. plus fitting) - downside is box is heavier, but it can handle the power.
