Had a lot of fun. Thanks for organising the day!
Only major suggestion i have is let me take my own tools so i can get the kart race-ready, the bloody thing fell apart half way through.
I wouldnt do any tweeking, honest!

It was a great day....but we was robbed by the Mechanics
The only downside was the number of people who were getting wound up by the novices on the track. They have to realise that its up to them to get pass cleanly.....I was able to get by Dave T-S without incident on a number of occasions .
Anyway, thanks for organising and lets to another soon.....
Anyone fancy Buckmore Park next time ????

Indeed and great day out was had by all.
I agree a few people did get wound up, but it was all about having fun, it wasn't supposed to be a serious competition. A lot of people had never raced in such karts before (if at all), myself included. My girlfriend was not impressed with being forced off the track and having her kart driven over the side of

Thanks David for the top day out, I really enjoyed it.
I sure Floyd's Fairies will be back to the top once more and I'll choose the WHOLE team this time
F
PS if you could stop the punctures as well then that would be nice!

Yep, superb day out, and nice to go for a drink and food with you and Jane (the Dane ) afterwards. Well organised, you can definitely do it again!
As has been said before, it's a shame some decided it had become a Pro-Karting World Final and moaned about there being novices on the circuit - it was a fun day out, and designed to be fun for everyone; it's the responsibility of the more experienced guys to go safely round the slower ones while still having a good battle with the other fast guys (and girls). To be fair, most did, and there were some fantastic battles going on out there!! I know I had some terrific tussles with a few people.
Thanks to my team-mates for being good sports, and everyone else for not trying to take out the guys in yellow suits Please remember none of us are F1 drivers - we're just mechanics, engineers and designers who happen to work for an F1 team. Therefore we ain't perfect .
A couple of wee piccies:
The obligatory Scooby line-up:
Racing well underway!
Fast and furious down the pit straight...
An efficient pit-stop
To the winners, the spoils:
And finally... the caption competition:
"Da kartin wuz so eezee hit wuz lak shootin fish dis size in a barrel."
Once again Hoppy Junior was setting da pace Nice one...
Apologies (on behalf of a Jordan guy) to the girl on the winning team for shouting "Beaten by a girl!" - he did of course mean it in good spirits, but I'm sure you've heard it a million times before. You were awesomely quick (again )...
Looking forward to the next one
Cheers
Richard

Oi Wiltshire - was that a compliment or an insult
If someone is clearly faster than me, i'll let them past (even you ) - if the alternative is taking us both off it makes more sense!
Equally, if I am overtaking someone (yes, it did happen ), if I can intimidate them into letting me past without hitting them or can outbrake them, or dive down the inside of them, I will
Not sure if the Schumacher weaving/blocking rule was being observed on Sunday though LOL

Hehe quality day out. I agree there were some people taking it way too seriously from the off - our team qualified 12th and was taken out from behind on lap 3 going into that final hairpin and we lost 2 laps getting the kart out of the tyrewall, checked and fixed.
We wangled our way back to 12th but then got black flagged twice in quick succession by those blind marshalls, once for getting all 4 wheels of the track onto the grass - erm my ars3 did we as I was driving, and then for leaving the pits on red when the green light wouldnt go for over a minute even though the start/finish had been clear. I personally think Daytona should have had a marshall letting people out of the pits because so many teams lost a lot of time on it.
My team is deffo up for another one. One thing to improve the social side would be some name badges as there were so many damn people there.
Thanks to David for sorting it out - the directions were spot on bar the last one which said first left off the roundabout when its actually 2nd left A pity more peeps didnt come for food afterwards. Who was the dude we talked to at the pub sitting on Davids table - is that bitten hero?
Dave-TS were you the geezer with long grey hair in the jordan suit or am I getting confused?
Si.

Just a note to compliment some of the more experienced drivers (one particular team in their own racing suits), who showed plenty of courtesy on the track. They tended to sit behind me until I made a mistake and then pass instead of constantly going for gaps that weren't there!
Still, it's all part of the experience. I myself hit someone side on in the first hour of the race due to poor driving (braking).
Sorry about that to the guy in the blue daytona suit.
Anyway, good fun generally.
Cheers to P1fanatic for coming over and introducing yourself.
I just wish I'd gotten the chance to speak to a few more.
Definitely up for another event.

Yep P1, that was me - good to catch up with you guys afterwards too.
Dave - there was actually another guy there who had his own Jordan overalls from a year before yours... well, they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery
Agree that most people were spot on about how to pass slower karters, it was just a few people with red mist syndrome!
DJ - I'll try and get some sent out to you tonight. Not sure I got any of you or your girlfriend but I'll send you what I've got...
Cheers

Did any of u lot get any video shots? Would be nice to see it in full flow. Even better would be if Daytona shot their own video of the day if each team chipped in another £5 or whatever. Poor buggers didnt know what had hit them - we devoured their stock of bacon and eggs within the first hour
Bitten Hero - yeah was nice having a chat. I thought a lot more peeps would have come for food but perhaps they were all rather knackered after a days racing.
Dave - I did wander up to your team stop but you must have been on the track. Saw the STi in the car park - looks v.nice in black mate.
Also P1 YOB - car looks great on them 18" superleggeras
P.S. Anyone see our mascot rabbit by the pit lights - poor thing was definetly looking a tad crazy.

Thanks BH much appreciated
Laura had a great day too, despite crashing into the trailer that was retrieving the Jordan kart from the tyres Did make me giggle (Sorry Laura, someone had to say it )
The girls were all very friendly too, and made us all feel very welcome
Shame we didn't realise the warm-up laps defined the starting grid positions, other wise we'd have made more of an effort

No problem DJ... and I did have to stop a laugh when Laura told me about her little accident with Herbie (their recovery truck!) Glad she enjoyed the day too. And her team were definitely the best looking team out there
There were a few people videoing things including a mate of mine - I'm waiting for him to sort it out and then I'll try and find somewhere to host it and let everyone know.
Cheers

Just like to add Team [STi]'s thanks to Dave for taking the time and effort to organise the event.
I think once the team captains had their talking too the racing did become a little less competative.
My worst moment was over taking a Yellow suit who was held up behind 2 other karts only to not realise I was there and I did a full 720deg spin by the 2nd corner. The good little kart got me round to 1 corner from the pit lane before the rear tyre went pop and I had to come in for a replacement
I wouldn't mind doing it again. If it's back at Daytona perhaps we should encourage better marshalling next time (I didn't see one black flag used because of bumping, yet thats what we got bollocked about ???)

Thanks, David. Great fun and very well organised. I thought Daytona were good, too, given that it was only FUN. Only real criticism is that the circuit is crap for viewing (vs Whilton Mill superb).
I can understand some of the more serious teams getting annoyed. You spend your session edeging out 20 seconds advantage, and then the pit marshall takes 30 secs to realise you're waiting at the red light. So you push hard again, only for the full yellows to come out to retrieve a kart stranded only twenty yards from the pits, yet it has to be trailered around the scenic route for several minutes. We were very close to ending the race under yellows!
It would be great to have serious race, with say three or four hand-picked Scooby teams, against the Evo Club, RS Boyz etc. Buckmore Park (Kent) is a wonderful circuit, and PF International (Grantham) would make a great venue, too. But that is not what it was about on Sunday. And the sun shone. Good fun.
See you all next time
Richard.
PS Can we have power-steering, please? I would like to regain the use of my hands before next week... Had to get my Man Servant to type this for me

Hi everybody,
Just a quick note to say thanks to those who helped me to enjoy my first proper karting session - following in the footsteps of my brother (a.k.a. "Bitten Hero"). Unfortunately no-one took my example of the quick route through the course and stayed away from the tyre barriers - much faster than going _around_ the tyres, although it did kind of wreck the steering!
Luckily everyone was very understanding and kind etc. etc. etc. so I enjoyed it - shame I couldn`t hang around to the end but I had a 4.5 hour train journey at 17:00.
For the record, I hearby claim (almost) all responsibility for the Bitten Heroes team coming so low down.. next time I shan`t use the inside kerb as a launch pad.
Thanks again to all those organising- hope I can make the trip from Aberystwyth where I live another time to better my time!
BTW, if anyone has a photo of me ploughing into the wall and sending the tyres flying, please share. :-)
Just a quick note to say thanks to those who helped me to enjoy my first proper karting session - following in the footsteps of my brother (a.k.a. "Bitten Hero"). Just wanted to say thanks to David for organising the whole thing and to Bitten Hero (Richard) for giving me a last minute place in his team. Nibbled Hero, don't be too hard on yourself - I'm fairly sure my inability to go round corners brought the team down a few places.
A great day out. As for those who complained about the novices, try and see it from the novices point of view: I was fairly fed up of being rammed at virtually every corner because I had the audacity to brake before the corner.
Also met John Felstead who is a jolly nice chap.
Looking forward to the next one.

Ah Nibbled Hero - u must be the guy who took us out in that very same crash. Even though we got knocked down to last but one place I was still pissing myself with laughter. The only superior crash I saw was some guy on the same turn 10 chicane that sideswiped another kart and ended up on the grass with his right foot to the floor and managed to pull about 3 doughnuts. Half of the pit lane clapped at him as he came in for the marshals kart check.
And some guy who used one of the scooby girls as an aerial launch pad when he hit their rear tire - his kart had all 4 wheels off the track

Dave,
Many thanks from Team Banzai. We all enjoyed the day despite the drivers who thought it was a real serious grand prix !!!
Count us in for the next one
Cheers

Just for the record Dave T-S it was a compliment on your driving
Daytona has a reputation for being 'over-marshalled' so I'm not surprised at the number of full course yellows. Apparently the circuit was orginally built by/for James Hunt...! Last time I raced Thunderkarts at MK in the Challenge series we where lapping in the 1.05 - 6 region but a lot of that is down to the differences in the Seats (ie they hold you in place..therefore no sore arms) set-up and tyres. I think they've slightly changed the bottom chicane as well.
My favourite circuit is probable Sandown (in the center of the race course) with Buckmore/Ellough & Clay Pigeon a close 2nd.
If people are interested I'll get prices for doing something similar at Buckmore Park.....?

Nice to meet you too Jerome
I was mega relieved i could actually drive the thing at all after my crash the week before. The neck brace was a huge help there. If anyone saw me crouching over the steering on the long straight it wasnt so i could get less drag, it was because my arms were killing me. No pain no gain. LOL
I'm up for a proper race anywhere, they have to be fast Karts though, none of this poxy indoor rubbish.
Hoppy Junior was too fast again! he is definately losing his advantages though, grown a lot since the last outing i saw him at. Keep feeding him up Hoppy, we might stand a fighting chance then.

From team Wibble -
Thanks for organising a great day out. At least it stayed dry - the last one I organised pi**ed down at Clay Pigeon, Yeovil.
All at team Wibble had a good day (suprising NOT!).
Not suprised so many people were peeved at agressive overtaking, we've been there before and it aint fun. Much more fun to coax people into making mistake and then sail by safely whilst they sit there fuming - all good fun
We're defo up for another one - definitely suggest Buckmore Park or Rye House again. Was anyone there on Sunday racing at the last Rye House one - if so hello again
And here's a message from the girly:
And who said women drivers are bad?. Well done Scooby Girls for getting a team up together!!
And to Bitten hero - no worries on the comment - I didn't catch it - too busy being embarassed!! By the way - I like the Race suits - can I get one too ???!! How about Jordan girly team !!
Cheers
