I need help from some of you "old marrieds" on scoobynet...

I've met this fantastic girl (everyone say aaah) but she doesn't get the whole scooby thing. She's trying to understand but not succeeding - I think she realises theres something in it 'cos of peoples reactions when she tells them that I drive a "Subaru Thingy", and I think she likes the noise when I give it some welly, but I really want her to appreciate the Scoob for the feat of engineering it really is When I try to persuade her to come to one of the local meets to see all the modified cars (mines a bog standard sport - for now) she says that lowered suspension plus big exhaust = Nova. I need help!!! any ideas people??? How can I explain to her that its really not the same as train spotting???

Tell her the meets are social things as well. I run a meet down in Kent (ok, it's KimA's meet really, but I'm doing the honors for the moment) and have had a few new people ask "what is it like? what goes on?" and the best thing i can say is "come along and find out"

We are not all sad nova boys. ok, we might spen the first half hour looking at the cars, but then we pop into the pub for a chat and drinkies, ok it's mainly car talk, but we do talk about other stuff, and generally socalise, as you would normally do when you're down the pub with your mates.

hope that helps out a bit mate.

Cool

Basically we are all sad *******s and there's no real way of avoiding it

There's not much difference between us and trainspotters!

Mate at work saw me using the "was it you" forum and took the **** for most of the day. Just don't tell her or she'll think your a ****ing weirdo.

there are a few women who don't mind the meet scene. I know a few of them, and they are a great laugh.

OK I feel I have to defend myself here - It's not just a car - it's a red one with shiny wheels. Oh and the seats are comfy

I'd love to really understand but let's face it it's a heap of coloured metal with an engine..... *ducks for cover*

Yes it does make a nice noise when accelerating and it's oddly satisfying overtaking boy racers in another boy racer car (TC dear I'm sorry)oh and driving around with people staring is amusing too...

And just to clarify I will go to a meeting as long as he has no objections to me sitting in the corner sleeping.....just to further drop myself in it - it'd be like sitting in the pub with a load of football fans talking ball technique.....

Cars just don't cut it - If you can enlighten me I'd be pleased and I'm sure TC would be too

But boy is she gonna get it big time at the end of his year,I have done my duty as a husband and father...and the time cometh for me to be a geek again...You have been warned TANIA!!

Sorry you're on a loser mate....just don't take up train spotting as well. The only part of my Scooby that my girl likes is the back seat....having said that she loves it...tried to persuade me to get a Forester....but thats another story...

I think if you don't get it, you don't get it and there's nothing you can do! ...except maybe a turbo!

I would take her to a few meets though - there's often long suffering other-halves (not necessarily female!) there too...

Good luck!

Who said it was to do with being male or female? I have had 25 years of a male partner who treats cars like skips and hates my P1 - so what the heck you only live once and if you are with the right person they accept you with all your advantages and disadvantages - after all he loves golf and cricket !! How sad is that?
