Default Painting Cost ?

I enquired at a local repair place about the cost of painting an A-line spoiler.
They initially thought 1.5-2 hrs work, around 50-70 pounds, plus primer, paint and lacquer.

Final quote was 145+vat.

Any ideas if this is realistic ?

I figured I could buy a cheap sprayer and DIY it, as it's a relatively small part, for the cost of the job.

Its not like spraying metal, with plastic its layer and wait 24hrs then spray again, then wait then spray laqueur etc, its the time that it takes if you want the paint to stay on the plastic and not peel off after 2-3 months, so 145+vat is good

tbh i've never had to do that to paint plastics etc, i just paint them like a normal metal substrate, but i make sure the surface of the plastic is keyed properly so the primers have something to attatch to.

I've done numerous bike fairings and bumpers etc and not had one come back yet and with that being a solid spoiler it's not really going to flex much anyway.

Thanks for the input, I just thought it was a bit on the high side, since the spoiler itself cost around the same.

I'll check out the sprayers and see if I can learn on the job, as I was thinking of a zerosports rear roof spoiler at some point, so would get a bit more use.

If you see a grey JDM STI with a badly painted rear spoiler in suffolk, you'll know it's me :-)
