wiring, has to be, for both of you.

OP, when you say it works when the car stops, do you mean, comes to rest, or engine stops?

Phil, check your mate's wiring:

RED is PERMANENT live.
Orange is SWITCHED (ign) live.
White is lights.
Black is earth.

Check ALL connectors behind the gauges and at senders as there have been numerous occasions of these not making contact properly.

what sort of range guage are you using? On my old car i could never see above 70c while driving,No matter how hard. As soon as i came to rest the temp slowly crept up to around the 90 mark then as soon as i moved cooled of again. this was with temp taken from sump plug. On this car ive fitted the sender above number 3 which seems to work better and give a more constant reading

Good old Prosport - wouldn't touch them with a bargepole!

Me neither

It would seem that the low temperature might be becasue of the sender in the sump, which is a LONG WAY from an ideal, even a sensible, position.

Sorry when i said wht range, I meant does the gauge start at say 50c and run to 140 or maybe start at 70 and go to 180? I ask coz if it starts at 70 there may not be enought heat in the sump for it to read

Before I had a return-to-sump oil catch can system, I used a sump plug based temp. sender. I would see 85-90c generally on my 03 STi Re-located just after the pump, I now see 100-105c (Mocal direct reading gauge)

My original comment is based on my sons Prosport gauges in his EVOIX, his G/F's Prosport gauges in her supercharged Fiesta ST and a number of problems aired on this forum

orange is lighting feed

white is ignition feed.
