Default Panel filters?

I have an ITG panel filter in my bug and it's caked itself in crap due to being oiled.

Rather than faf about with washing it, what should I replace it with, and where should I get it from?

Thanks!

Guess it did its job then, you wouldn't want that in your engine by the sound of it .

I have a Green one, noticed before it was serviced that it had concentration of muck at the centre. Not sure if this is usual for a turbo car or just a feature of the Subaru intake, all my other cars (all NA) have had an even coating of dust. New one now in and induction roar is slightly louder .

Would anyone go for the K&N 57i over a panel filter, or is it not worth it?

Not masses more than a decent panel filter, so figuring out if it's worth it.

My personal opinion at moment, depend on your BHP at moment and on your BHP goal.
If you are going later of year FMIC route i will stick until with panel filter and later replace with RCM Cone filter/big cone.
And if you are now change panel filter for Cone filter, you may also need map tweak and 57i is not the my favorite, you may also find on sometimes dyno lower bhp from some reports.

Thanks Jura,

That's what I was wondering, if it would lower power due to heat soak. Map tweek shouldn't be an issue if I get it sorted in time, just trying to decide what to get.

Yep is possible you have low reading power on RR due heat soak, first i would replace your panel filter for above mentioned.
Or you can try to borrow from someone K&N Cone filter and try on dyno what happens.

May just go for a K&N panel filter. Anyone know the cheapest place to get one - ideally somewhere that could dispatch today?
