i have done both from my 5 speed and 6 speed box
the 5 speed box i had to nurse of the line but could hang the gears out (uk box)
the 6 speed you can give full beans on the launch but you got the weight and changes
but tbh the time i got was all around the 12.4 mark with the 5 and 6 speed box
darc
ps my option go for a 6 speed

That was the last figure I had seen from Subaru for the 2005 Spec C, I have not seen any more figures with 1/4 mile or terminal speeds since, so I cannot say if any more are quicker but the original Subaru figure from Subaru Japan was 1/4 in 13 dead at 108mph for a 280ps car

I ran low 13's with a 280 ish WRX (only change is exhaust and remap).
Kept getting 13.3's with 105 terminal, thats with a 5 speed Hawk... Just shows its also how you do the drag.

In my wrx I change to 3rd at 65mph but I can't quite remember what I change to 4th at, I know it's over 100mph.
One of the quickest cars I ever had was a 1.3l Escort, I dropped a 1.6 engine in, a few breathing mods and kept the 4 speed gearbox, it went like a rocket and nothing could touch it! So long as you give it hell in 1st gear a longer ratio gearbox should smash short ratios.

It was back in 90's when the only quick cars were Astra GTE's and Fiesta RS turbos, I'd maybe see the odd Cosworth been driven hard.
Put it this way I sold it for a 174bhp RS Turbo and the RS couldn't live with it, apart from at Junctions when the 1.6LX couldn't stop!
I guess I'm just a big believer in long ratios and they most really suit my style.

I managed 13.1 in my WR1 when it was standard, that was my first attempt at Santa Pod and with half a tank of fuel. You must be doing summit wrong to get 13.7 in a lighter car with more power.
