How do they fair after 100k mileage? What engine parts wear out around this age too?

I had one with 118k, had it from 70k with no issues other than rear suspension and MAF.

Bought my MY99 red classic in December 2006 with 120,000 miles on her (but it had an engine rebuild/new turbo at 70,000 miles). Sold it with 142,000 miles 19 months later. Consumables were MAF sensor (£90), second hand idle control valve (£25) and passenger side drive shaft (£60) and lambda sensor (£140). Then just servicing and modifications.

One big thing to go was the gearbox at 135,000 miles (Tesco, 6.30am December 15th 2007). I had API build me a reconditioned new box (with my knackered one used as p/x) for about £900 delivered to another specialist to fit. Had a new exedy clutch done and a major service as well (minus the cambelt). Including the above and the cost to remove/strip the knackered box and fit the new one was £1700 all in. Car ran beautifully after the replacement (stand UK 5 speed).

Any more info Jimmy lad, PM me

Yes mate, was a full genuine unit from Subaru as it cured a long standing hesitation problem. The one on it was all mashed up. Cost me another £50 or so in labour for faffing about with the wiring BUT it made my issues disappear

How much are they supposed to cost from subaru (3 1/2 years ago)?

Power engineering supplied mine in 2004 and adapted the wiring all for £60! Subaru only buy theirs from the same suppliers anyway. They don't actually make their own sensors.

Bought my MY00 with 22000 miles and it's now done 120,000 miles. The only parts under the bonnet I've had to replace (other than service items) are a top hose for the radiator and the MAF.

I had a MY00 from new and sold it in 2003 with 127K on it. Only thing that I had to change was the MAF. I think if they are not meesed about with too much power wise and serviced properly they are good for 150K at least. Mind you Subarus were built properly in those days before the marketing men and bean counters got to them.

Ive had my uk my99 turbo since it had 35k. It's on 116k now. I do 400 hardish miles on it a week blasting up country roads half the time. Engine wise no problems at all. Other things ive replaced are...

Clutch around 90k,lamba sensor 80k,maf twice poss 3 times, top rad hose,. Really not very much at all. The reliabilty has amazed me. I plan on doing 200k plus in it if poss.

For me brakes are the regular cost. Pads and discs a good few times. I also have had problems with cailpers seizing due to crud in pistons. I have changed all calipers once due to this.

Overall, reg oil changes and keep on top of servicing. They are amazing(if you can afford the go go juice).

My friend sold a Turbo 2000 a few years ago with 194'000 on the clock. And it was still going strong apart from a noisy gearbox!

James - why don't you go off and get a TDI?
You're travelling what - 40/50 miles a day for work.
You'll have to pur super unleaded in it too and you'll only be getting 20odd mpg from the T2000

the average MPG on the Alfa 27mpg, so its not exactly economical. I wouldn't mind having an Impreza for a few months to scratch the itch. I hate VAG cars so most TDi's are out of the question.

Wouldn't mind a Mondeo ST TDCI if i'm very honest, I really do like em.
