resonated centre section question
hi all
Was just wondering if anyone has experienced the difference in noise etc between a resonated and non resonated aftermarket centre section of 2.5" bore?
Ive got a mongoose back box waiting to go on and want a bit more volume but not loose the ability to talk rather than shout at passengers at motorway speeds
thanks

I initially had a H&S back-box on an otherwise standard system and the first change I made to my car was to replace the resonated centre with a straight through which increased the volume of my exhaust by a good 50%. Mine is a 3" system which I've subsequently continued with including sports cat, but I imagine the sound increase might be a similar proportion if you run a straight through centre section.

It is, i have a 2.5" system, with de resonated centre (H&S), sound differnce i would say would be nearer 25% louder, but 50% deeper....for the £85 or so you can get cheap one for its WELL worth the money IMO.

I have a nurspec S backbox on with a de-resonated straight through centre section on my 2007 STi and I need to shout at my passengers on the motorway!
Car came like this and I was wanting to decat the downpipe but Nurspec dont do a decat pipe - nor do they do a centre section to go with the spec S. I was considering replacing the spec S backbox with a nurspec R centre section and backbox. I take note the nurspec R centre section comes with a resonater in it. Interesting - I'd like to hear that combination. Either way you still have to find another suppier for the decat downpipe.

My H&S system is not intrusive at all below 3,500 RPM, cabin noise is odviously louder than standard, but its 1 notch on the radio louder, not shouting...recommend H&S highly for the decerning motorist....
2007 STI too, btw

not sure im after a huge gain in noise.
My last sti5 had an HKs hi power system and it was too loud above 65mph - sounded incredible through tunnels but in all other ways it was ridiculous - the cars used on the school run and on longer motorway journeys.
How much of a difference noise wise is there between an aftermarket centre section with a small bubble silencer and one thats just a straight pipe - such as the ones scoobyparts an scoobyworld sell.
I know I cant get the rumble without the thunder but Id just like it to sound like a scooby should without getting an account at superdrug for ear plugs or paracetamol!

ive heard that the mongoose back box i have is quite quiet anyway - it looks similar to the TSL group N and scoobyparts racebox silencer.
Also did a check on bubble silencers on old posts thats given me more info - should have done that before posting so I think i'll get a centre section with a bubble silencer on it.
