Default Got a Scooby again!!!! woohoo :)

Hi folks,

I joined up years ago when I had an impreza sport, I have always loved scoobies and that was my first step in owning my dream car.

Unfortunately due to financial circumstances I have been without a car of any description for over a year But now my situation changed and I was able to get a car

I know it's not as good as most on here but I got myself a lovely 2002 bugeye wrx with ppp and I LUUUUURVE it

The first thing I noticed was how different the wrx is to the sport, totally different car, the performance is mind blowing, i'm still driving round with a perma smile

The car came pretty much standard except from the ppp and some mudflaps. I'm not sure if it has some handling pack on though or something as the suspension is really firm and it has huge drilled/grooved discs and the gearbox has a really short shift?

One question I had though was.... is the exhaust with the ppp a catback? I'm considering decatting it so wondered what to change.

So far I have fitted a k&n induction kit and a Bailey dv12 and want to know what would be the best next step for more power

Also, what kinda power figures do the bugeye wrx's get with the ppp? 250 maybe?

IMO you have just done the two most degrading mods in the book to your new car.

Your car will be in a book stating its running at 261 ps, and in real terms nearer 240-50. The induction kit will give zero power, as will the DV12, but each to their own. I have a dump valve too, bit of fun for my kid......I believe the PPP is a de CAT down pipe and a back box, still has the first cat so MOT friendly.

Good luck with your car, do what YOU (^^^^^^) want to it!

Thats a bit harsh isn't it

DVs are a bit marmite these days. Induction kits aren't too bad.

Keep the induction kit and blank off the DV altogether

if u want more power get rid of that bailey, go back to re-circ and is lose the induction fit re-fit the standard airbox with a good panel filter, uprate the fuel pump and go for full de-catted exhaust system, then get it re-mapped see how she goes then

Induction kit serves what purpose specifically? (other than increasing audible decibel output)

Sound advise.

To induct warm under bonnet air which will only decrease the performance of the PPP. Where as the OE air box (which is tried, tested and researched at great cost by Subaru and Prodrive) will induct nice cold/dense air and allow the engine to produce its optimum output.

I don't think so Mr Scott.
You go out and buy a nice PPP'd motor and the first thing you do is mess with the induction and AFR's. I bet it has not even seen a data logger let alone a knowledgeable RR operator. How does the OP know his new pride and joy is not detting.

Thanks b13bat, I know the induction kit does absolutely nothing, and I remember Mike Wood of Prodrive telling me how many thousands they spent in research proving the panel filter was the only way to go!

Thanks mate!

Yeah I knew I wouldn't gain any power with the induction kit but I like the noise the turbo makes with it on. I might invest in a centre section for the exhaust too then

The dump valve will prob be a temporary mod anyway as i'm pretty sure it will get on my nerves after a while. For now im just going to enjoy it

Yeah I have considered that too, maybe when im sick of the dv I will try it. Is there anywhere that sells plugs or something to blank it off?

That sounds like a good plan, think i'll enjoy it how it is for a few weeks and then start the mods with power in mind. So if I allready have the decat downpipe and backbox with the ppp I should get these two products for a full decat?

Don't think you will find much evidence to back up your backward mods in this thread, but there are plenty of positives to get you started...
