Default 2003/04 WRX STi type uk PPP MPG

After driving an RS clio 172 cup for the last couple of years I fancy a change. Im looking to buy a wrx sti type uk ppp in the not to distant future

Can anyone tell me how much mpg that they actually do, research has told me 23mpg. I know it depends how you drive it but if you own one what do you average?

Also any pointers on what to keep my eye on when looking for one would be a big help!

Cheers

Typical MPG on the STI of that year is 24mpg, WRXs tend to give approx 26mpg instead.

Things to look out for:
The usual whines and knocks from the gearbox and engine.
Miss-firing on boost.
Engine check light being on. Don't just assume that the owner has checked the code and is telling you the truth if it is on.
Badly tuned examples, i.e; manual boost bleed valve , decat without remap, badly routed or re-routed boost and vacuum piping.

Personally, the most common miss-demeanor on these cars is the above. If any of the above is true of a car you view, then walk away!

listen (head above engine) for a rattle on lifting throttle, bottom end will go if you boot them when they're cold or don't service/maintain properly (but you can buy them like that cheap)
'04wrx 2.5conversion 15-35mpg depending on driving style

Gearbox is one thing on a Blobeye STi that is pretty much bullet proof.
Knocking rear struts are the most common problem. Most people swap them out for after market coilovers.
Service History is vital. More so than high mileage.
HPI check ALWAYS
Proof of PPP being fitted. Certificate should be with the car. PPP is not the huge improvement you might think. A well tuned/modified car will be a better car to drive, but will be more expensive to Insure.
Mine averaged 20ish MPG when standard.
