Default outback tailgate leaking

Hi all,

my newly acquired 2001 outback is letting water into the boot from somewhere, not sure how it's getting in but it's very wet in there, all the way along the bottom of the tailgate, the boot floor and the spare wheel bay. The tailgate handle is sticky too, maybe related? any ideas/suggestions?

cheers,
malc.

It may be the rear lights, as Imprezas suffer terribly with that.

You could try re-sealing thew lights first, using Carafax IDL99 or similar, but DO NOT use silicone

After that, it's a case of dry it out, then lie in the back watching while someone sprays the rear with a hose or pressure washer, (if the latter, not DIRECTLY at seals etc).
