Default Bugeye Key Cutting - issue

Afternoon all.

Car is Bugeye STi 51 plate. Looks like an euro import so no Sigma alarm but an aftermarket GT 636 alarm fitted.

Issue: When I got the car it only had one key and one alarm fob - so I've been getting around to getting a spare set. I now have a new fob, which is programmed in just fine - so that's good - spare fob.

Went to Timpsons in town, asked if they could cut me a key - no problem they said after checking it in their machine - £75 and a programmed chip later off I go to my car.

Low and behold - it doesn't work. Looking at the key it was physically the same size, cutting etc - it would go into the locks (boot/driver door/ignition) but wouldn't turn at all - as though it was cut wrong.

Took it back - apparently it's not the "official" impreza blade but the closest physical thing to it. - Either way it didn't work so I got a refund.

Does anybody have any ideas where I can get either a key cut (I'm in cambridge) or a blank (with or without transponder) which will fit into my car?

Cheers

Ben

Nope, it's very much a euro spec

For those of those getting the blanks from ebay - what do you do with them? take them to somewhere like timpsons to get them cut and the chip put in/programmed?

Are you sure they are newage?

Interesting........no rear wiper on a 51 plate bug Sti. Does it have the radio mast in the a-pillar or in the rear screen heater?

Just curious LOL

Shaun
It's in the rear screen heater.

The paperwork from the early days of the car is a little patchy, and one of the things I found odd is that it's got a WRX rather than STi spoiler - Though Paul at extreme scoobies seemed to think that the very early ones didn't.

Applied Model Code is GDBKEH and First part of the VIN is JF1GDBKH32G0... Though I've never found that exact Model Code anywhere else...

radio mast in the rear screen marks it out as a phase 2 bodyshell (assuming it's not an Ra, when it will have a roof vent) which is a bit strange for a 51 plate. The rear spoiler is standard WRX /STi fare for the early(ish) years....

http://www.j-garage.com/subaru/impreza/gdb/code.htm

Is the Applied model code a bit dirty and the "C4" combination look like a "K" ??

Shaun

FYI - Timpsons do key cutting and coding of transponders.

Got mine done a few days ago - £50 for one or two for £75

The transponder is TPX02 for Subaru keys (or at least it was for my UK Bugeye MY01).

The key blade for a Subaru is shared by Nissan apparently although they do have a separate section in their little key cutting manual for Scoobies.
