What's best on track? Sti or Sti Type R?

Debate at will!!
Just wondering what you all think, especially those with experience? Sti Type R (with nice rear drivey type handling) or regular Sti.
Do the handling and gearing differences have much of an effect? Which car responds best to modding as a track car?
Love to hear your thoughts
Mike

IMHO It's pointless putting a 4WD car on track ! you are obviously going to have much better fun with 2WD in something like a lotus elise or a westfield.
The above cars are much better track cars/weapons than a Subaru could ever hope to be!
Therefore IMHO a STI Type R with active diffs is a much better track car than a standard STI without diffs. A two door car has a stronger frame which would also help

The idea of going on track is clearly to achieve as fast a lap time as is humanly possible I'm sick of having to brake whilst the car in front gets his back wheels back into line.
It's like rockets - they go straight up, without any oversteering purely cos it's quicker!
Got the back end out on a dumper once - very scary business, but actually quicker than any 200SX or Skyline 'round a corner
