STI INTERCOOLER HELP
Hi Guys/Guyesses
Right then if uve read my posts before you`ll be aware that im about to remap shortly... Well I spoke to my garage today that will be carrying out the mods 255 fuel pump,3 port boost solenoid, prodrive sports cat and second decat and rest stainless steel exhaust and K&N panel filter.
When all fitted I was going to get remap but was told today that before I do anything it would be best to fit a STI TMIC to help turbo keep cool and so you dont get turbo fade when thrashing it also to help protect the engine.
Has anyone else done this and is it defo advisable as I hadnt accounted for this before hand but if its advisable I will do it and want a lil time before remap.
Cheers
Rich

TBH the airflow from the TD04 isn't going to trouble the WRX intercooler that much..........I moved up to an STi top mount when I upgraded to a front entry TD05

The up-pipe pre-cat shouldn't be a problem with the TD04 turbo, at high airflow the small Turbo is simply heating the air rather than compressing it efficiently. If you go for a bigger turbo then maybe remove the pre-cat and map out the EGT CEL.

STI IC is not essential until a bigger turbo goes on, IMHO.
Not that having one anyway would be a bad thing. Get the matching scoop and undertray as well if possible.

Would I need to remap again if I fitted sti ic after 1st map ? I know you usually have to remap after each mod but wasnt sure if one was needed after that mod ?

Hi Rich fit everything before remap, because you will pay extra for every tweak/change map.
STi IC you can fit without tweak, but you must run again off the boost, until remap.3 port solenoid, this will be same.
Depends on your mapper, how much charging for tweak map,but i will advise and recommend fit all, before tweak/remap,will be cheaper for you.
Try source good TD05-16G,VF35,550cc injectors and fit with other parts and get tweak
map.
